that sucks. again another rider not starting. how big is the grid now, 17 people???

hope he gets better quick!

I wonder if HRC might give Dovi a sneak preview of what he will be riding next year in Nicky's absence?

you know considering the kind of injuries others are riding around with i'm disapointed that he's decided to puss out like this. on the other hand if i were leaving the employ of an outfit that has treated me like .... for these past years i'd do the exact same thing. don't chance it for those hrc .......s be in good shape when you dawn your new red leathers...

It's been too long of a break, so who else is injured? Do you also mean for Brno?

I definitely think that something is going on. This doesn't sound like Hayden at all. He would at least try and ride to see how he felt. He was even going to ride the x-games but backed out, not cause of the injury, but because he wasn't competitive on the track. Oh well, I am very dissappointed that he isn't riding because I really thought that he would come out firing after the break like he did last year. Now its another week to see my rider in the field...I hope.

I made a comment on the X-Games thread about hie ruining his contract with Honda. Maybe he did.

From the sounds of it, Dr. Ting said that he could take Brno off and be nearly fully recovered for Misano or he could ride Brno and risk having the injury drag on for the remainder of the season. Seems like a no brainer for me. Especially considering his season is already lost. Healthy he can barely come to respectable terms with the Honda, no use in him riding around hurt in 14th. Stay healthy and stay on Ducati's shortlist.

Why the fck would he? He may sound like a red neck but there seem to be some working brain cells there (I know, I am shocked too

)

Nicky is not fighting for the championship (or even top 3). He has way more to lose if he rides and aggravates it. If this year has shown us anything it is not to ride injured! Jorge has gone from bad to worse (albeit with great photoshop opportunities) and Loris didn't do himself any favours either by getting back on the bike at Assen.

That said, am I bummed out about him not riding, yes.
50% of my grid eye candy is gone...

I would think that with what the injury is it would be very hard to keep weight on the foot and concentrate in the turns and such. Nicky is not the type to just say ok and not race. I also think that he isn't willing to risk it for Honda right now especially since he has the chance to ride for Ducati next year and really have the support he deserves. But no matter what it is a race, seat time that he is missing out on and i am sure he is pissed about that.

I know it's not a surprise, but (usually reliable) rumors have it that Hayden has already signed his contract with the Marlboro Ducati team for 2009... He should have signed a couple of days ago.
His decision not to ride at Brno would make a little more sense in that context...

I don't know if we get all of the information and every little detail from the teams or doctors. There are usually some explanations what is hurt or what ever but not everything.
Some guys could be lucky to injure the right part of a foot or a hand. And as i have understood from reading about riders injuries it makes a hell of a difference if the important muscles or tendons are hurting or are damaged.
When seeing Hayden in the races he is always pushing as hard as he can.Even if the camera hasn't followed Hayden for a while and you think -were did he go.After a while the camera finds him way down the field with some problem or something and he is pushing the bike like you think the frame is going to brake, kind of like Stoner.
He is quite entertaining to watch i think and has always done what he can so,i think that is what he is doing. He had some bad luck probarbly.

The injury is to some very soft tissue that could be damaged severely if not healed properly and could jeopardize his racing future. But as some of you allude, there may be more to this story. Sometimes people need to consider many aspects of a career. Nicky rode with a fractured shoulder and damage to his hand and ribs in Valencia 06 one week removed from the cause, so his commitment to fight through injury and pain can be easily refuted. I'll add more as I promised in the X Games thread. I'm extremely busy these days but I will make time tonight.

I agree on this one. Seems like he signed a while ago and Honda is not a concern to him.

His heel better be missing because it would have to be one hell of an injury to keep him off the bike. One thing we know about Nicky is he wants to be on that bike come raceday. I won't accept the excuse that he is down in the points and this race is meaningless to him. Nicky does not give up, ever. I will wait for the full story if it ever comes out.

Hey Jum, you saw him at the x-games. How was he walking?
