Who would you consider the greatest motocrossers in the past and present.

Present would be recently semi-retired Ricky Carmichael and Belgium great Stefan Everts. Honarable mention Jeremy McGrath

Past would be David Bailey and Jean M. Bayle (they were both so smooth)

Way past would be Roger DeCoster.

I've had the honor of seeing Ricky, Stefan, Jeremy, JM Bayle and many other greats ride in person and it gives you a new found appreciation for why they get paid to race.

It's too bad RC retired. I wanted to see more battles between he and Stewart. This past year it didn't seem that RC could touch Bubba on pace, but Bubba fell down alot too. Really made things interesting, especially with Reed always riding steadily behind, ready to pick up the pieces in case something happened to RC or Bubba.

im agreeing with you here .... i finally got to see a good battle between RC and Stewart... these guys are insanely good.... just overly dominating against the rest of the field.

but my rider of choice ... Reedy funny how Kurri Kurri seems to produce some good riders

I cheered for RC all season, but during the Vegas race I had a change of heart. Reed was really riding his heart out; he was pulling off some serious slides out of the corners, hitting the hay bales at every exit. He was reeling RC in for a good while, he eventually faded back, though. Reed's display of grit and desperation won me over; I was pulling for the determined Aussie who was pouring his heart out all over the course. He REALLY wanted the title. I believe he had to finish second and ahead of RC to be the champ. Now that RC has sold out to the NA$CAR mafia, I really wish Reed had won the title. He held up well during those 2 or 3 three races when his shoulder was hurt too.

Does anybody else think that Bubba scared RC into retirement?

^ sadly enough we don't get much coverage of the races over here .... no doubt i wouldn't mind watching a few more ... i really rate stewart as a rider too, mind you i only got to watch about 2 races

That's too bad. It is a great diversion during the off-season. I only wish MX got good coverage like SX does here. MX courses are more interesting and are proper race courses in my opinion.

^ well actually i think the story is that the MX rounds are shown here .... but they're on during the day when i used to be at school or am out. Might be able to catch a few more in the coming weeks.
i wouldn't mind getting coverage of the supermoto... be good to be able to follow the progress of troy herfoss and the like.
you americans keep stealing our good riders!

Stefan Everts without a doubt,

To stay at the top for that amount of time is a fantastic acheivment.

In the British 500's I rate Dave Thorpe and Kurt Nicol ( Ex KTM ) in their day also.

On the SX side it has to be RC or McGrath, but I was a big fan of Bayle and Jeff Stanton when they used to go head to head in the early 90's.

Damon Bradshaw was also a talent back then, he had the speed and the raw aggression but was a crasher so kind of reminded me of Bubba.

Tommy Searle is the equilevant of Dani Pedrosa, but Searle is younger. (16 I think, maybe 17 now). He is going to be something extremely special in the near future. Without a doubt Stefan Everts was the best around, people got close but they wouldn't kill him down. A lot of people don't actually know how hard motocross is until they try it, and to win nearly every race in a year/season takes something extra special.

Being from the same state as Damon, I actually got to see him come up thru the ranks and he was lots of fun to watch for sure. I spoke to him on occasion and he was a real nice guy. I believe if it hadn't been for Yamaha putting so much pressure on him he would have won the SX championship that year instead of Stanton.

My favorite is my friend Scott Geelhoed. He Races AMA regionals. But the best ever. Easy, Ricky Carmichael. 24 staight wins.

Greatest Motocrosser ever: Ricky Carmichael
Grestest Supercrosser ever: Jeremy McGrath
