it'll be interesting to see how much faster Honda & Yamaha can get their bikes in the two week pause.......
<

Didn't Burgess blame a poor choice in the M1's gearing for the lack of pace ?
<

Schoolboy error if that's the case.

Where did you see that?

why would the author even compare the motogp bikes to WSBKs which have 20% more displacement?

He was probably alluding to the fact that a bike that costs around 5 times as much, is that close on performance to a WSB.

because they "SHOULDNT" be faster than a GP bike...duuuu.

To be honest that was a total piss take when that Ducati went past the Yamaha like it was stood still.

They really need to sort it out.
Other wise they will be murdered at places like Japan.

Relax guys (except Ducati Fans). Ducati won the first race last seeason by an even greater margin. After that we did not see much of them. If anything proves top speed is not everything, not how much quicker the lap times of these 800cc machines are compared to the 990cc bikes even though the 990cc bikes had more top speed.

^^ The problem with the the 990's was the amount power the rider could use, they were so overpowered that electronics were used to actually blunt the power delivery.

The fact that Rossi finished in second place is a testament to his skill as a rider. To make a race of it even being so much slower in terms of terminal speed is extraordinary.

Sure topspeed isn't that everything, but the Ducati impressed even more on a different part. IMO the most impressive part was how they powered away from the Yamaha and the Honda. I have not seen that big a difference between three top bikes, espcially as the Ducati were suposed to be the underdog here.

Anyway, we'll get a glimpse of Honda and Yamahas moves this weekend.

That's because Sete took out both the Ducatis and were hurt for several events, otherwise you would have saw alot more from the Ducatis. Just look what happened when their riders were healthy at the end of the season.

Not just the Ducatis, that went for all the bikes. They spun their tires even all along the straights.

I was one of those that thought the Ducati would take a few years to develop. I'm hoping big things for Loris and Casey this year.

Hey Babel

I might be reason for this...it was a theory I had, and I believe it may have been you trying to make it a wash...

anyway sorry Baldy, if it was from me, I'm way less of a source for info than MCN

Well the news are not good so far : At Jerez FP2 Rossi's Yamaha was 15th fastest down the straights and 7,2 km/h slower than Barros's Ducati.
