Out of Nowhere
...or out, or on as the case may be.

Following Jorge's latest wardrobe malfunction, I was wondering which gear the riders on the forum chose and why?; whether it was dictated by competitive pricing, brand affiliation, quality, aesthetics or personal preference? I have always used Arai because they I like the look of them, they are a bloody good lid and they give me the closest fit (apparently I don't have a Shoei head). Leathers, boots and gloves have always been 'stars for largely the same reasons although my first bike leather beyond the obligatory Brando jacket was a Frank Thomas together with an AGV lid. I also had a rudimentary assortment of off road kit which had been borrowed, acquired and never given back.

This amused me because it looks like the contents of some archeological dig - an unearthed Neolithic barrow, the tomb of some warrior chieftain. My 'stars SMX's are indeed ancient, totally ...... - toesliders torn off years ago, but I swear by them. '....!!!' - there you go.

Of course, if anyone wants to offer me in the region of €900,000 to change product I'm open to negotiation.

Also, given the fact that this is the U.K. - I find the following is essential Jorge...

Arai lids.

Just threw out 3 of them. (Moving house)
Had the joy of taking a splitter axe to an old RX7, three shots to get it to split.
Black only. Only lids that fit me, pity as I can get AGV free.

Alpinestars Gloves.

Same as yours, Arabb. GP Pros with that painful "One Goal One Vision....Win" writing. Texta'd over that .....

Dainese and Tiger Angel leathers.
Dainese race leathers, comfy but relatively .... leather. And I hate the design, but they were less than cost and only for racing anyway.
Tiger Angel race leathers, heavy but amazing quality and custom fitted. Still fit almost 16 years on. ha.
Tiger Angel 2 piece for road.

Alpinestars GP pro boots. The old ones that aren't covered in placcy.

Some old Clover winter jacket. Great bit of kit.

Assorted MX boots, lids, old Dainese predator suit thing, Stupid nylons etc.

All sitting in boxes up the country now

I'm down in Victoria, so it does get chilly (by Oz standards).
And after not bothering with a textile jacket for years, I finally twigged and realised how nice it is not to climb into damp clammy leathers after getting rained on.

Cant stand Buffalo it leaked like a sieve ands Frank Thomas stuff is just plain crap. For jackets ive stuck with Richa, which is as good as gold .Liked Hein Gerike too :)

I use whatever Nicky Hayden uses. No really, I have bought my gear based on what he was using at the time. My first was Joey Rocket, Alpinestars, Dianese, Alpinestars. Except a helmet, my first was Arai, then Shoe. I'm ashamed to admit I have two Icon helmets. I bought them when I was an ignorant young man.

The Peter Storm of the biking world.

And have you binned a bike at 170 in FT predator gloves?
Great bit of kit

Good move. Save the money that you would have otherwise spent on riding gear and get yourself a good roadside assistance plan.

Maybe back in the AMF days that held true...but usually if there was a problem with the bike, once you redid the gaskets, the oil leaks were gone for good.

Only issue I had was with the fuel management I installed. Sent it in to Vance and Hines, came back fixed, that was it.

I must confess to a penchant for agricultural machinery myself. Sod the tassels, the 'Born to Ride' Eagle Spirit air cleaner covers, ape hangers, sissy bars, the skull paraphernalia and the maltese cross rear brake lights...gotta keep it pure and spartan.

Looks good!

Yeah I'm not into a lot of the Harley culture stuff. A lot of it is leave it for me, but to each their own.

Always loved the bikes from the time I was little.

I love sport bikes, but I don't like riding them. Too uncomfortable for me, and would only be worth it if I was going to do serious track stuff.

Mine attached. May be ordering a '16 Street Bob soon...has mini-apes, but you can get the engine chrome, and I'm not really into the blackout look personally.

Got two helmets. Schuberth for the Autobahn simply because they're by far the best at blocking wind noise and I ride a naked.
Nolan stoner replica for everything else because I turn joghurt into hot lava

Glad to see that line used in the US as well Jums. :D

Seems almost universal with the tractors

Ixon touring jacket
Also have a cheaper RJays jacket

Ryajys all weather pants
Also have a pair of (now) very ratty Dragging Camo Jeans

ONeal boots

RJays ADV helmet

Gloves were Rjays but were destroyed last year when I wrote the bike off but did their job with no grazes on the hands etc

May be cheaper stuff but I am a cheapskate :D
