We've been talking about this for a long time...so let's make it official :
For the good of the race, what would you do ?

I don't like spec parts in a prototype series, so I'd either get them a larger fuel tank or do nothing.

voted spec tire, but would love to see the two race format (if it's plausible)

I voted for larger fuel tanks.

Yeah that is just it. THis is a prototype series and NOT a spec anything series. It would be a shame to see it get dumbed down like Nascar. Hey if a guy works harder than the next then though .... work harder to win. That goes for any company especailly honda since they got the rules changed just for Pedrosa. So that also goes for the tire companies. Nobody complanied when Michilin won every year for a LONG time. Then all of a sudden when a tiny maker like Ducati teams with Bridgestone and Kicks eveybodys ... big time, NOW we need to make changes. How fitting since Honda went to all that trouble to get the 800cc bikes for pedrosa to win so Repsol can puff out their chest.

i agree, i think there sould be very few rules in motogp cos there prototypes.

thats because most were using michilins and only a couple of private teams on dunlops

No limits on fuel and 990s i'd like to see no electronics but then it isnt true prototype racing as such
<
actually it isnt anyway cause if it were there'd be dustbin fairings rocket boosters....... oh i see ill be quite
<

agree. anything goes. run what ya brung. these are prototypes. if someone thinks he can do well with a 500 hp turbo hayabusa. take his entry $$$ and let him him to lose & loose. what a variance in stuff youd have.

People here don't realise that at the rate electronics advance, soon the rider's input will be just to open the throtle like a switch.

IMO electronic aids HAVE to go (and that has nothing to do with the fact Casey & Ducati are winning)

And Spec tyres IMO would be good, it's just my opinion that nowadays they are responsible of a large chunk of the result, and IMO the battle of Michelin vs Bridgestone I don´t give a damm about, I just care about the riders and the bikes.

The fuel limit is good IMO. Makes manufacturers spend money in engine effiency which is something useful.

Oh, but didn't you know

If you are pro regulations of electronics on this forum then you are pr. default a Stoner/Ducati hater. The only reason for your standpoint is obviously to stop Stoner/Ducati for winning and you are also a hopless Rossi Cheerleader. That's the truth and only truth around here.

does feel like that sometimes buddy

If you want a prototype series (which I do) then you have that right now.
No 990s. No spec tyre. No control ecus. Don't mess up what we have. This series is NOT about the best rider (if it was they'd all be on the same bike). It is NOT about the best bike (if it was one guy would ride all the bikes against the clock). It is not about the best tyre (I can't think of a reason for that remark but we have seen many races decided due to that factor).
This series is about the best PACKAGE of bike, rider and tyres.
For proof look at every world champion since 1949.
Everything has to gell or you've lost.
Stop ....... moaning and start appreciating how good our sport is.

Humm, I thought everyting was regulated.
Engine: havily regulated
Tires: Regulated
Fairings: Regulated
and so on.
The only major performance part I can think of that is not regulated is the electronics.
Why keeping that unregulated destoys the spirit of "prototype" racing is beyond me.
I don't like the thought of a control ECU but I do want regulation on input and output. Then they can continue as they allways have, creating the best package.

I think rules like the amount of fuel and tyres you can have is what its all about, consistantly pushing the engineers of this marks to push the boundries of technology !!
I would like to see the removal of electronics though.
They would then think of something else to let the rider know whats going to happen.

Screw it NO RULES RUN WHAT YA BRUNG. I will have a v8 small block with 2 -50 caliber machine guns mounted on the side fairings. As for the front of the bike I will have a chain gun ala the Apache helicopter so when I turn my head the gun follows. I will have provisions for several sidewinders for anyone that gets out infront of me far enough my guns won't track. I also will have a rocketbooser with NOS just incase I need that extra bit for the straight. Now were talking prototype series. I'll bet my elcetronics package would dwarf anyone elses. LOL

Engine internals should be free with an upper capacity of say 1000cc
No one has tyre suppliers/sponsors, I'd like to see the teams roll up to the track and buy/use any brand tyre. Just walk up to the back of the insert brand name here tyre truck, give the ape in the truck your visa card, he throws you tyres and off you go.
Free electonics.
Free aerodynamics/fairings.
Free frame size
Free tyre size.

Get the idea??

Hey Rock !,if you finished build that bike, I'll be very happy to test that !

.... it! I'll just ride the Apache itself, then there is no need to worry about tyres at all!!
Maybe have to bring in a spec rotor though....
