Only a 19 man grid this year.. a shame no more WCM to fill up the back! do we think there'll be more bikes/teams available next year with the 800cc Capacity coming into play?

yes. i think they'll be a few more at least. pons will hopefuly be back, ktm say's thier interested (but i dout them) & possibly bmw? wcm's 2 slots. 2 rider team's for lcr & konica minolta. if a lack of sposorship does'nt become a big problem. and that's a big if

A Porsche GP bike? I have my doubts but it seems like they have got something in the works with loads of rumors already. I would have thought they would perhaps focus on an internation series of competition that features their main products... cars.

If Porsche gets involved in GP's you can bet they'll be buliding engines. before they ever get involved with a whole bike.
I think the 800cc rule will be like the 990. Good because it will encourage more manufacturers, bad because it'll hit the privateers hard. Some currently good bikes will go bad (Like Suzuki did), and some new manufacturers will emegre with potential (Like Ducati did) Some will keep on top, as if thyre never gonnd go down (Like Honda) and some will dissapoint us (Like Kawasaki). It'll be good for variation, but I'm thinking it'll be bad for satellite teams.

The Suzuki RGV-R500 was never good, Kevin Schwantz and Kenny Roberts Jr. were the only reason the bike ever won world championships. It's not as bad as the modern GSV-R but the Suzuki was still the worst of the Japanese bikes back then too.

porsche and bikes?? hmm... could be interesting.

but then again could be like their foray into 4x4's ie the cayenne.. shocking!

Intresting thing they did in a mag here. AMCN teamed up with "Wheels" (Tin top mag) and they did a comparo on a porsche and a K5 Gixxer 1000. the $18,000 Suzuki kicked the $300,000 Porsche's arse. Then, at a round of the Aus SBK (A round that I went to) They came back with a race-spec porsche worth twice as much and a real Race driver. It was up against a bog stock, off the showroom floor R1 complete with an engine that hadn't been broken in and even road tyres. The bike still killed the porsche by about half a second on a track where Superbikes lap at about 1:20

It was QLD raceway. I know one of the Yamaha riders was on the bike, but I'm not sure which one. I think it was Robbie Bugden on a R1 from Star Yamaha. That makes sense, seeing last year he was riding for Star Yamaha. Did a good job, too. 5th overall & he beat both of the factory Yamahas. Good to see he's got a factory ride with Suzuki this year.

An F1 is about a million years faster than GP bike round a circuit.

The acceleration and top speed of a bike can be better but cornering speeds and braking distances are much, much worse on a bike.
