This is awesome news for me...Ferracci was the shop I used to drive by when I was a little boy that sparked my interest in motorcycle racing. I witnessed their last few seasons of AMA racing and I continue to visit them and harrass the salesmen. I own one of their limited edition bikes and my bike even appears in their catalog.

In a brief telephone interview this morning, Italian Superbike maestro, Eraldo Ferracci, said that he intends to race the Superbike class next season on MV Agusta motorcycles. Previously Ferracci said his team would be racing the Superstock class in '07.

Ferracci will have a two rider team in 2007. One rider will be Italian Luca Scassa (23) and a final decision will be made next month on the second rider--several Americans are under consideration. Scassa, who almost won the FIM Superstock championship this season, will test the MV Superbike at Jennings in Florida later this month.

Fast by Ferracci Ducati was once the most dominant effort in World and US Superbike, and the patriarch of the effort says he's working steadily to prepare for a March Daytona debut of the MV team.

Ferracci said, "I have missed racing very much since I came back here to concentrate on my business, so I'm really excited to get the chance to come back. I have a lot of work to do, lining up vendors and building engines and things like that, but it is good to be back." Ferracci is one of the most popular and beloved people in the paddock.

Back he is, but several loose ends still need to be tied up. Ferracci said he has made no final decision on which brand of tires his team will use, and also that he's talking to several sponsors. "We'll have the full support of the MV factory so it's going to be a good effort," he said.

Ferracci said his initial work on the MV Superbike engine had increased power output by twenty percent.

AMA needs more manufactures to get involved and this will be great to see next year, I can't wait.

I can't wait till Daytona and cheer like a mental patient from my seat.

Hey Doc!

Thats cool news, post a link to your bike again would ya mate

I bet they'll win at least 1 race next year, those MV motors are quite good and nice to work on too.

Any news on the Italian Domestic MV Augusta SBK team who were getting their feet wet for an entry into WSBK next year? Been waiting to hear from them.
I guess the new 1000R will make things easier. It's actually a better bike, not just an F4 with a special paint job, a plaque, shiny wheels and a price tag that could incur a heart attack like all the other "Special" MV's seem to be..
Sucess will depend on a lot more than the bike, though.

Well, they run a 4-cylinder so maybe they'll fare better than Ducati did this past year? I certainly hope so!

Oh man this make me even more eager to go to Daytona at the beginning of the season. That means that more big-wigs are going to come to the race and maybe I'll be able to spot a racer or two!

They're to small a factory. If Ducati is microscopic compared to Honda, then MV is sub-atomic compared to Ducati. They'd struggle financially justifying a full factory WSBK team (Which they should try, always going on about their roots in racing and stuff. Show us what you got, MV

], let alone a whole MotoGP project.

So am i!!

Do you live around here? Maybe we can get a beer sometime!
I live in Pennsylvania but my wife and I go down to see the Races almost every March.

Mv cannot afford to race motogp. I believe MV will do what Ducati did with Ferracci in the 90's. MV will let Ferracci develop the engine and suspension package here in the states and then move on to a serious charge into WSBK.

Now we just need Ducati back and AMA's all set...well besides the unstability of the AMA organization itself that is.

The original company merged with westland and still makes helicopter engines but the motorbike division was owned by Proton. They bought it in 2004 for over 70 million Euro and sold it this year for 1 Euro to an Italian finance company. ( thanks, Wikipedia ) That company bankrolled them this year so I'd say a MotoGP return is unlikely but I'd love to see it. Since GP's began they've got 18 titles to Honda's 14, not a bad history is it? There's a guy here locally that runs one at the odd track day. Looks and sounds even better on the move. If I was loaded....
