Just a little bit on this sanction, how's the supply of bike parts particularly on Jap products...Japanese are utterly following what the western world said..

Well the bike industry in our country is awful. actually there are some contracts between two of the big Iranian bike factories with Suzuki and Yamaha, Just to bring materials and assemble in Iran with another names. They call it CKD or something. But after the sanctions probably it has been getting worse with the material supply. My father back in 2000 was the CEO of one of the Iranian bike factories and I have some pictures of him visiting Yamaha but now with the new government and the new sanctions material supplies and negotiations are not the same. I have heard that one of the Iranian companies is now importing Honda CBR250 and CBR150 but is selling them with different names. I don't know how Honda is letting this happen.

CKD = Completely Knocked Down

Bike is manufactured in one country, assembled in another with no local content - everything they need is in the crate.

This is as opposed to bringing in a completely built up bike - it is done for tax reasons, import restriction reasons... all sorts of reasons.

thanks, I knew what it was but I didn't know what it was standing for, Well after the late sanctions we don't even have the CKD thing properly. So it is really messed up.

Its skrew up big time, I wonder if Bike parts have got to do with nuclear weapons...You can transform CBR250 into a nuclear war head..maybe the block can be assembled into some nuclear centrifuge or high pressure pump..

Well when they start the sanctions they go with everything available. When they start the sanctions their main goal is to compromise the economy system and our economy system is totally based on our fuel so it is easy to start with everything related to fuels. Bikes and cars are related to fuels so maybe that is the reason.

There are two things can happen from sanction : You become a self reliance in technology , resources, independent or you will be another Myammar (Burma)..Burma used to be a great nation in 1960s but bcoz of the isolation and sanction the country was so backward and no one knows that Valentino has not been riding for Honda and Biaggi is no longer in MotoGP except for the Generals who can access to the net.....

Getting independent in technology is something we Iranian people can't even get close to it. MotoGP fans in Iran are worse. They even call it the wrong way saying "Motor GP". They barely know Valentino and lots of them still can't find the difference between the Honda CBR1000 with the Repsol theme and the bike that Casey and Dani are riding and I almost killed myself trying to make them understand the difference, so if guys in Burma know who Max Biaggi is than that country is not that much backward compared to Iran.

I meant Myammar (Burma) is really in a sad condition compare to Thailand...In 1960s both countries are on par in terms of GDP, Development, etc,etc..But now Thailand is so far ahead of Myanmmar.. I bet people in Myanmmar is still riding Honda CB125

So in this case they are just like Iran. We Iranians watch Dubai developing and see that sadness you mentioned earlier.

So sad... Iran/Persia has such a long and glorious history. Hope things turn around again soon for you and your countrymen.

As to the Myanmar/Burma thing... Now that the generals are starting to lose their grip there are many business opportunities opening "on the ground floor". Still risky and typically corrupt - but potential profits a HUGE! Been sniffing around there myself...

In the late 60's & early 70's american and euro hippies traveled from europe to nepal searching for spirituality and to get really high on cannabis. Iran (Tehran) was a major stop along the way. It is legendary for some of the greatest hashish on the planet and still is. Marijuana would not be what it is today without the hippie trail. And people would pay anything to be able to do it again. But it wont happen. Keshav probably done it before.

Edit: What mick said.
