With Capirossi's son due at any moment, I was wondering what riders have won the World Championship while having babies/children at home? I know King Kenny did, but that's a long time ago. This is a topic that I have been thinking about recently. I'd imagine with the dangers involved with MotoGP racing, it would be hard to really concentrate on winning the title when you have a little baby at home and tons of money in the bank. Also, with Capirossi, he saw Dajiro die as a result of a crash and that has to be a thought that goes through his mind. Riders who don't have children would seem to have a little easier time risking a late-breaking manuever than riders who are fathers. Just a thought...

funny you should mention that, me and my hubby were on about it at the time.........like the commentators said that Capirossi was expecting anytime and that might affect his riding............dunno really, we came to the conclusion that when you are on the grid and waiting to feck off down the straight the last thing that would be on your mind is your wee one. It certainly would be the last thing on my mind. (IF only lol) I suppose it depends on the true grit and determination of that particular rider whether the risks outweigh the benefits? But certainly having kids gives you a different perspective on things, but I thought that with racers their brains were programmed differently anyways (not that I would grossly stereotype in that way). But they are all clearly bonkers

Well he's pretty much denying that he's thinking of quitting racing just because he's becoming a dad. He said Bayliss has three at home and just look at him go. Or something of the sort. Edwards has kids too...I don't think his bad phase has anything to do with babies.

Does anyone remember Yuichi wi, he was an excellent rider, but as soon as his first child was born he slowed right down.

When Colin Edward's wife was pregant, he was battling for the championship in WSBK. When she had their daughter, that moment after he went the rest of the season undefeated he won every single race after that and won the World Title!

How is that for "distraction"--I'd call it "motivation".

Well, you gotta work hard, right? Coz that's an additional mouth to feed, and that's not even mentioning all those baby stuffs that you'd have to buy. But well, babies are lovable so it's all worth it.
