Is there really any point in keeping Brad in Moto2 next year.I say no,the lad is getting bigger and wiser every race in 2011 and should be on in the top flight come 2012.The lad is something special imo. What say you?

There's no doubt that he's destined to remain with Tech 3 and is likely set to become the token Brit on the M1 in 2013. Cal is fast through grit and determination as opposed to the innate natural talent so essential for the premier class. Bradley certainly has something and has the advantage of progressing through the ranks from the Spanish 125 championship which in my view has always been the best and most logical route into MotoGP. Most Brit pundits actually regard Leon Camier as our most gifted current exponent.

I say stay where he is, keep on like he is doing & build his reputation, & wait for the right ride to come along.

No sense in wasting himself on a lesser ride that won't give him the opportunity to shine, like so many before him.

Sounds easy on paper don't it.

I say Brad Smith is brilliant. His weakness used to be hard racing and traffic, but he's truly done with that now. He is safe, solid, consistent, aggressive, fast and currently leading bike development. I think he's maturing into a truly fine GP rider. But i don't think he should rush, nor should we heap too much pressure on him just yet. He is doing a great job this year and i can't see why he shouldn't be in the top 3 at the end of this year, he is amongst the classiest riders in the moto2 field. He'll get some wins under his bealt soon enough and then there is only one more milestone after that...

Trouble Smith has is that for the forseable future his career will run parallel to Marc Marquez

Bradley Smith is too inconsistent as a rider. Sometimes he would show brillance on track, other times he's mid-pack at best.

Scott Redding > Bradley Smith

Your statement is factualy incorrect. the only riders who have had consistency even comparible to Smith this season are the two ahead of him in the championship. Scott Redding on the other hand has always been relatively inconsistent and if you haven't noticed is having significant issue this season.

I'd guess that SS56 has enough serious issues of his own which might have diverted his attention.

Brad should stay put for the moment. He is enjoying his racing and getting respectable results. Motogp is just to thin in size to cater for up coming rider like smith at the moment.

I agree, he is coming on brilliantly and only getting better. His reputation is only getting better and his experience building. I think he should let 2012 play out and then think about motogp from there. He arguably stayed in 125's a year too long, but i think going to motogp too early would be a considerably greater mistake

Why would it be a mistake? Every racer in the world would jump at ANY chance to get into MotoGP if they could. Let's say Bradley was to be offered a ride next year, why would he pass up on the 'big show' and risk chances of looking bad next year on a lower series......... as we all know, things can change quickly year to year, good results are never guaranteed. Which then puts him off the radar as a potential Moto GP rider. Plus why risk injury in a lower class? Possibly a career ending injury.

Certainly, he has looked pretty good the last few races, but I wouldn,t move him for a few more years. He seems to lack what Spies has.........that is , if there is a group of riders of similar speed dicing, I now know that he won,t win the dice, whereas Spies does. Until he fixes this ,it is not time to progress. So many races I have rooted for him, and left disappointed. Reminds me of Corser. Doesn,t mean he can,t improve though.

Iannone excites me, but he has to qualify better.

What worries me is that riders like Smith may take CRT rides to get themselves into the premier class. That could be a double edged sword that eventually ends up cruelling any chance they have of getting to the factory rides.

Smith has a chance of becoming a more than competant motogp rider, but I feel that another year in moto2 will not do him any harm at all. He is growing as a rider and some of the areas of weakness we had previously seen in Brad seem to be going away. As Tom also mentioned, he is taking a very active role in bike development and this can only help him as his career progresses.

There is always the temptation to jump at the chance of joining the motogp circus even if the ride isn't right. There is also the chance that he may injure himself or have a poor season if he stays on in moto2, but that is the gamble.

Brad seems an intelligent and well grounded guy, so hopefully he will make a decision ( if it comes ) which is the better for his long term career.

Wherever he races next season, he is gonna have his hands full, because there are riders of equal and greater ability in abundance.

I'd like to see him stay with tech3 for a year or two & then there may be a space in the monster garage.

By which time he should be fully ready for gp.

There is no doubt that Brad has the capacity to ride in MotoGP but I think its best if he did another year of Moto2.

I know this is a bit off- topic, But I have never known why Guy Martin has never had a shot at MotoGP racing. Perfectly talented rider.

It probably has something to do with not being quick enogh to get into the top ten in a BSB event.

Stunning road racer does not necessarily make for a stunning track racer... see Joey Dunlop!!!

I say move him up, there might be an opening in tech3.(which will probably go Bradl) Staying on another year in moto2 he might get lost in the class. .
