I don't see the warning as vindictive at all old chap.
I joined this site as a bit of friendly interaction whilst I work. It's true, I wish to learn of peoples' passions, and gain a bit of information as to who would be popular to paint, but primarily I wish to 'have a laugh'!!!
I am concerned that some voiciferous and opinionated members disagree with my reasoned comments, "which is absolutely fine as I'm much the same", but then decide to spend the time to take matters further 'outside of the forum', hence interfering with my website/business.

I'll refer back to my 'peace keeping' comments posted earlier....

"I agree with you. I'm reasonably new here, but I am enjoying the forum because it is very much like real life. Youngsters are having their first interactions with adults in the outside world, and indeed us oldies are being reminded of the joys of being young.
..........A happy balance between passion and prudence!."

I'd like to alter that, because in real life there are consequential limits as to how 'naughty' you are prepared to be........ In other words guys and girls, what you did wasn't called for, so let's keep it real eh!

more love, peace and laughter!
Burky

I just read this thread over several times and I seem to have missed something. Is this a joke about the offense thing and Burky's letter? If it's another one of those tennis jokes, you got me, if its not I'm rather amazed & concerned. What's going on?????

I'm not trying to point fingers at anyone.
All I said was that I got a PM that someone thought there was offensive material in the post.
I personally don't care about what the offensive thing might/might not have been. All I care about is keeping it all good around here. And getting a PM that someone is offended is not keeping it good.

People join this site for a variety of reasons, but above all the reasons is to share this passion of MotoGP and have a good time while doing it.
Members of the Staff are here to make sure that is kept healthy.

Thank you for your time.
You all are funny.
Burky's paintings are cool and I wish I could afford one. (Damn poor college boy is what I am.)

See you all around on the forums,
Hector

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CaptainSnow @ Jan 7 2007, 09:16 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Hey peoples.
I didnt joim this discussion because its beating a dead horse.
Its pretty boring by now.
Say something about Hayden, another person says he isnt champion bla bla, Jumkie says 5000 word post. People respond and it turns into a super long debate.

Its pretty pointless now.

I personally dont care, because it adds spice to the topic (although it makes many go off-topic) and gives people a reason to get on.

The one thing that bothers me is when I get a PM saying someone here was offended by the posts.
I dont know whose post it was and I'm not going to say who sent it to me, but please, keep it cool in these discussions.

WARNING: Don't disrespect the fellow board members.

“I didn’t joim this discussion because its beating a dead horse.

I think the members and posters decide what is or is not a dead horse.

“Say something about Hayden, another person says he isnt champion bla bla, Jumkie says 5000 word post. People respond and it turns into a super long debate.”

Thanks for noticing. Obviously, the horse is not dead, is it?

“Its pretty pointless now.”

Then you don’t have to post if you don’t want, but we can right? It seems some still want to make a “point” of it, and I am more than willing to respond.

“I personally dont care, because it adds spice to the topic (although it makes many go off-topic) and gives people a reason to get on.”

Exactly. Look and count how many people posted on this thread. Not only was there a lot, but also a great variety, some of which I had never met before. I made a new friend this thread. Which is, to my relief, a great and eloquent poster.

“The one thing that bothers me is when I get a PM saying someone here was offended by the posts.

Was there really something said that was “offensive?” Isn’t that part of the question? If I were to complain every time somebody said something sarcastic, would you post a warning to keep it friendly? I would hope you would check it out and see if a warning was actually warranted. In this case, I hardly think it was.

“WARNING: Don't disrespect the fellow board members.”

“Disrespect” seems to be highly subjective here. I’ve said it before, but it seems to me only those arguing in favor of certain topics or riders seem to get the benefit of the doubt, while a blast on unpopular riders or topics seem to go unabated. Double standard I think.

I think you should also put a “warning”, as if its not obvious, that this is a forum on the vast Internet. People have various opinions, and so post their opinions, but also be thick skinned enough to debate others opinions if you so choose, otherwise, grow alittle intestinal fortitude (that means guts, wanted to say balls but need to be politically correct).

Its rather obvious, who felt disrespected on this thread. No need to be so enigmatic. But it seems to me that he was willing to throw a rock but not willing to take one himself.

What subsequently transpired though was really the offensive here. This chicken sh… decided to sabotage Burky’s website. And it is rather obvious to me who that chicken sh.. was/were. What a coward!!!

There is a saying: If you live in a glass house, don’t throw rocks.

OK, since you called me out I will be brutally honest as you have been.

I really dont give a .... about what you all post and dont give a .... about how or why it was offensive. As long as it doesnt break the rules of the site I don't care.

Like I said before all I care about is that someone found it disrespectful.

Also, the beating a dead horse thing, it isnt to you, thats why you respond to them. I think they are so I dont respond to them.

Oh, and to make you happy too

WARNING: Sarcasm can be found offensive. Be a tool and dont have it. It is really a bad thing.

WARNING: This site is on the internet. People have opinions.

Any other warnings you would like me to give out?

Now that I have vented, lets talk like gentlemen.

Warnings are warranted when I get a PM about someone complaining about the posts.
Did anyone get banned? Did anyone get a PM saying "stop it"?
No, because I just wanted to remind people to make sure to not cross any lines.
Everyone has different lines and someone's was crossed.

Jumkie, I respect you and your opinions, and I am trying to do my job here as a staff member. So please, you do your thing as a poster and follow the rules (Which you have not broken, at least not in my eyes) and I will do my job as a Staff member and be moderate about everything and (This will sound very George Bush) defend the freedoms of the members of the forum (including yours).

I love the cussing (profanity) mixed in with the warnings and defending freedoms bit. You are a crack up man. I get it. It's all good.

But you know I'm gonna have alittle fun with it now and again. So please don't feel offended when I do. After all, the "respect and civility" thing, I've made freinds just about with everybody. I was hoping to add mike to that list of sarcasm buddies;... but my charm can't win them all.
<
But at least I got a new buddy in Burky.

I'm not sure who has this on there signature page, something about "steel/iron to be tested in fire" something like that. But yeah, its right on. By the way, I wasn't calling you out to get upset, but to retort my point of view (my perspective as a "lowly scum" member). No need for the hostility, lets save that for when we are talking about that jerk Pedrosa. (just kidding, don't get all crazy Capirex, I'm just having a laugh).

Anyway, lets get back to talking about GP. Don't worry, You will have plenty of stuff to mod when the season begins and Hayden proves he is a "deserving/true" champ. Sorry, couldn't resist, I'm in the playing mood.

Hey thanks man, my tequila swigging buddy!

Yeah, I wasn't impressed.
Well I started this thread, so maybe I can round it off. Do you recall how it started? It was supposed to be faces of 2006 as it goes, but like many threads it has degenerated into a 'I love Valentino, I hate you' type of thing. I've noticed it happens here, and many seem to have got fed up with that fact. Well, not me!!!! Nor Jumkie by the sound of it. Bring it on!!!

I'm thinking it stayed on topic. I would have loved to see some of the "faces" by those typing their post. Hahaha. Maybe they would have looked like:

i guess i should clear all this mess for ya folks... so you won't get crazy on the wrong person (mods or Mike)

I was the one that i reported post here... as i considered ( subjective maybe... that's why every report is debaded by mods) that some posts .. were directed to person rather respond the opinion..

Mybe i overreacted and i'm sorry if i did, maybe i didn't have that good sense of humour or appreciate sarcasm but "nutter, narrow minded" and a few more words ... looked to me as they were clearly directed to a person ...

call me if i'm wrong but if i shall call people like that on the forum they won't appreciate...

so there you have it ...you catched me in a very very bad day and my limit was crossed ... and i losted ...

i'm guilty there, so sorry Burky and jumkie ....
<
sorry to cause you trouble

i visited quite a few times and i did voted ... like i said before ... superb in the poll... to bad i can't afford a painting

yet i don't think that was mike ... because he began the exams before me ... and he wasn't on the computer that much...

As an effort to make peace i'll repeat after jumkie loud and clear :
