Talk about difficult. Her eyes glazed over a couple of times.

What's a satellite team?
What is a factory team? Why are they better than the other teams?
Oh and don't get me started on the tyres?
<
<

My wife knows Valentino Rossi, remembers that I mentioned Nicky Hayden to her and Factory Ducati because I am Duc999 and I love Ducati.

Well have you guys had the pleasure of explaining the nuance to your wife/girlfriend or some other non fan?

I wold love to hear about how it went.
I got the bland look and a few bats of the eyes...

My wife is so far removed from bike racing,i dont evem attempt to discuss it with her.Because of my interest,my daughter and her boyfriend have boned up on Moto Gp so we can have something to talk about. He even buys me Moto Gp related gifts for Christmas and birth days.

My missus watches every race live, right by my side on the couch.
She also loves the v8 supercars here in Australia so I'm a lucky man.
<

Hell, I haven't even gotten to MotoGP. Still working on the Aunt Flow visits.

My missus has no interest in anything bike related and long may that continue
<

My four year old son on the other hand loves the GP.

He is even addicted to MotoGP 2007 on the XBOX360.

Thats my boy
<

Noone in my family likes motorsport, excpet my uncle who I barely ever see, so I've kinda got used to it over the last 11 years. So when the day comes that I do have a missus I won't be expecting any miracles.

This WON'T help but I thought I'd state my case;

I have an Italian wife who loves Valentino, Spiderman (Melandri) and thinks Poggiali is cute (he returns in 2008 so that won't hurt). She dislikes Biaggi (thankfully) and as De Angelis is from San Remo he doesn't count! She doesn't know Dovi but I'm sure if/when he has a few good results she will jump on his bandwagon!
<

She bought me signed Valentino photos from The Island in 2005 (maybe his last championship year ??) which are framed and hang in a part of our house which I look at every day! We even called our dog "Valentino" ... in hindsight a stupid name as it has too many syllabels! Thankfully he now responds to me calling him "46"!

Because we are in the southern hemisphere and in the east, most races (starting with the 125's) are live from about 8pm on a Sunday night! The wife goes to bed shortly thereafter and I watch the races in peace! It is the best time of the year as it takes my mind away from getting up to go to work on a Monday morning! It is especially good when MotoGP and the WSBK are on weekend after weekend! Gotta love that!

BTW,
What's a satellite team?
What is a factory team?
Why are they better than the other teams?
<

Oh yeah, what's with the tyre situation?
<

My wife loves it. She's a legend. I ususally have pals over when there's a race on and she keeps everyones' beer well topped up. Deep down I think she's happy that I can't stand soccer.

It doesn't need to be explained just put the woman out of the room for all motorsport and football.
<

count me 1 of the lucky 1s. the wife does know bike racing thru me of course. she'll actually watch it when i have it on the tv, but since i watch most of the races live on the pc she doesn't see alot of the races. she knows some of the riders & tracks but knows nothing of the political turmoil that is gp racing. she loves going to the races tho... she likes the crowds. the only time i can handle crowds is when it's crowds of fellow bike & bike racing fans so it's all good. like paul ( skid ) said i think she's glad i'm not a football or baseball or basketball or any type of stick & ball sport fan.
<

I've never tried to explain it to my wife, I haven't signed up for a ball and chain yet.
<

I have found that I can't even describe my passion for motorsports to my girlfriends, motogp in particular.

Seriously, if you remove the exhilaration and the emotional attachment to motorcycles, motogp makes no sense. What would possess someone to climb onto a motorcycle with over 200hp and go over 200mph wearing 1.5 millimeters of kangaroo skin?

Like Colin says it's some kind of weird psychosis.

Most women account the love of racing as a male competition thing, but I just want to see the best riding (or what was the best riding).
<

Krusty and Skids you guys are extremely lucky. My wife thinks that I am absolutely crazy. She shakes her head when I get up at 3 in the morning to watch qualifying or the race. Or when I make us late or miss Church on Sunday trying to catch the race. ( I know...I am bad)

The funniest thing for me was earlier this year, I went to Schwantz Suzuki Superbike School. During which we had Texas Barbeque bay Schwantz and his family.

My wife was "like why are you making such a fuss about "motorcycle camp". As she walks by #34. Classic.... Schwantz just smiled.

Nevertheless... other than this BB, I don't have anyone to talk to motogp about. Much less argue about Traction Control.. or who will be the rookie of the year...

It's good to know that I am not a lone out there...

And it ain't half a lonely place sometimes, too. I get sick to the back teeth of hearing about football (or soccer, whatever floats your boat) none stop all day, and just nodding along pretending I know what everyons on about.

Give me wheels and a bloody engine anyday of the week..

Me and Mr H. have been watching MotoGP together for years, it was through him that I really got into it, I remember watching it with my Dad as a kid, but it wasn't until I got married that I really became a fan, and I didn't have to 'have it explained' to me, I just watched the races, they speak for themselves.
<

And we do sit and have 'discussions' about TC, tyres and Rossi's influence on the sport, it usually ends in disagreement.
<

i would say most of you guys on here are very lucky. my last boyfriend broke up with me because im "married to motorcycles and seeing me on sunday's are not possible" no joke. he doesnt ride motorcycles and never really had an interest in them. i tried explaining it to him and even comparing it to his beloved nascar (dont even say it, i already know) i wont make that mistake again.

It's hard holding back a comment on that one ... .... ... but I will!

Dude was a butternife next to your Ginzu.

A man that doesn't love you for the motogp/motorcycle fan that you are and can't see the beauty in Bikes.... He was doomed.

Good one Helix and Mr. H:
Now a family that watches motorcycle races together stays togethers.....

Oh my Mum is like that. Asking me questions about Moto GP but she isn't so bad now. She likes any form of motor sport although F1 comes first for her while Moto GP comes first for me. She does watch it now and again if my Dad isn't at home. He hates motor sport. He says it's boring when football is even more boring. I said to him you haven't even watched Moto GP so what are you on about. He's watched F1 but not Moto GP. BTW my Mum doesn't have a problem with me getting up early in the morning to watch Moto GP races because she does herself for F1 races so that isn't a problem. Usually when F1 is on. I go downstairs to my room to watch Moto GP if they are on at the same time but she asks how did our British riders do and I tell her. It's mother and daughter thing in our house our pictures is full of nothing but motor sport.

my wife and I both like rossi. she watches every race with me. when we cant watch it right then. we record it on the dvr to watch later. our newest cat a boy we named him valentino rossi. cause he hauls ... from one end of the house to the other. with his ... skipping up in the air like rossi braking hard into a corner. it's the funniest thing to see. so go!!!!!!! rosii in 08. your crown is waiting at layaway now. stoner is keeping it waxed up and dusted off for you.
