Lorenzo is the new fastest man in the world, its rediculous how good he is.

For the race it looks like Rossi vs Dani, i think Rossi will take it. Stoner looks like hes in trouble, i don't expect a podium from him.

Well, to my mind it's going to be a Rossi/Pedrosa showdown with Jorge being there but not quite. He sure can qualify, but he may be just a little bit off the race pace of those 2 when it get's really heated.
I guess we know where the michelin/bridgestone battle is at the moment. Rossi seems to have replaced Stoner as the top bridgestone runner.
Ducati seems to really be struggling - with Stoner having his problems, the ducati seems like a really ordinary package at the moment. Seeing Stoner's face at the end there he seemed resigned to the fact that getting a top 6 will be an achievement.
Suzuki - mid pack as usual.
Kawasaki - not much better. West really struggled and Hopkins doesn't seem to (so far) be the answer to kawasaki's dreams.

4th for Nicky

Just shows how good he is at quali, hopefully he has the race pace to atleast challenge for a podium.

Wow, words don't describe how good Lorenzo is. I will be rooting for him to win tomorrow.

Rossi is well in the frame for the race.

I think stoner is actually slower at both estoril and jerez than he was last year. I suspect that you just can't make the thing handle like a yamaha or the 2008 honda on these tight circuits and that in trying to make it do so they have totally lost any balance the bike had and with it casey's confidence in the bike. This may not be easily recoverable even if yamaha and honda's engine development have not outsripped ducati.

I suspect you are dead right.

if dani gets the holeshot he will run away with it but hew will loose out if he has to battle with the lights of rossi.

as for stoner i think its a set up issue looking at his bike coming out of the corners rather than ..... tyres. must be hard on him being out classed by the rookie jt on a sat yam.

Must be that fantastic TC they have on the yamaha hey Roger?

Colin fastest at the end of FP3?!

Are Tech3 running the pneumatic power plant or not?

Anyways, it should be a good race. Rossi looks in form.

Pedrosa and Nicky will shoot to the front again, it will be interesting to see what happens from there.

Will Jorge finally pop his cherry?

I think that'll be the story of the season

I can't wait till tomorrow, i want to go to bed now. I just rang my brother in portugal and he said hes having an incredible time and he thinks Lorenzo is looking strong for the race.

looking at the practice times and qualifying. Stoner wont be the second bridestone runner up front. I think Capers and Hopper will beat him in the race, maybe even Nacano. I wish they get it sorted so that we can have all of the Ducati boys running up front too.

Why would you do that? Anyways his arms are going to start hurting tomorrow right? All I hear is Stoner saying that he didn't need a Q Tire. Looks like Rossi is going to take this one. Im no math geek but would Hayden have been top qualifier if he had the same top speed as Lorenzo? I was actually hoping that it would have rained to actually see an interesting race...

I think the top speed here has a lot to do with the exit speed from the last corner. It's an opening corner with a lot of speed out. That take away a lot of the acceleration advantage of the Ducatis, while it reward those with a good chassi and rear grip.

For tomorrow I'm surpriced no one are considering the wether. AFAIK the forcast are quite uncertain with showers expected all afternoon. That could change the field dramatically. This could after all end up a Rossi vs Stoner race with changing conditions.

They are on pneumatics now. Not only one each but the full sett of machines and spares.

Mrs. Stoner will be made to do a rain dance tonight, youtube please. Stoner's only hope for a decent result is a wet or wet to drying track, otherwise Pedrosa .08 will most likely throw down quick laps from the front and disappear. Should be a good battle for 5th-7th.

I'm hoping like .... for rain, mixed conditions, something to break up the follow the leader 'racing'.

Hi people,

I hope for a good race, and I am happy to see Stoner, Rossi, Lorenzo, Hayden and Pedrosa all there, and guys like Hopkins, Dovizioso, Edwards and Toseland being quite close. This is what we want. I have a feeling it's going to be a very interesting year.

I find quite amusing the number and the manner of "opinions" expressed in this forum, which by the way is the most interesting I've found on the internet. There is always a reason for someone's favourite to be losing.
<

I love the races, which I've been watching seen 1987, when I was only 10. I don't understand much about the technical side of things, and I don't have a real favourite that I would die for
<

Anyway, regarding the last post, if it rains, it rains, and the best man will win.

By the way, it's a great year for Rossi to cement is position as one of the greats ever. Because he really does have a strong field this year, with 2/3 guys fighting with him, but also 4/5 others with good rides and good possibilities of taking any chances. So it's for Rossi to prove one more time that he is the master. And this is already a good reason to watch it
<

By the way: I live 300 km from the circuit, in the Algarve, so I will be there tomorrow.
And on Monday, I'm going just next door to watch another great, Roger Federer, at the Estoril Open. It's gonna be a

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SackWack @ Apr 12 2008, 04:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Why would you do that?

I don't think Nicky can win man, so if he doesn't I want Lorenzo to win.

Lorenzo has excellent track knowledge, a great bike package and team, and he clearly can show how fast he is on quali tires. He showed in the 250's that he was great at getting out ahead and just clicking fast lap after fast lap. All these things are contributing to his great qualifying. But we shall see how he does over the entire race length. I expect to see him on the podium again.

I am really impressed with Yamaha, wow, all of their bikes are in the first 2 rows, with 2 of them being rookies. Great job JT, hope he can get a great start tomorrow.

Going to be a great race, pray for dry.
