So it must be raining...... early on and their running at 1.57 which is about 25 sec more than normal.

Yea according to MotoGP.com, it rained overnight and the track is still damp.

Air temp is only 12C so pretty cold too.

... and into first goes Nakano

Pretty interesting first session.
If it rains, forget about michelin riders.
Stoner and Rossi had a good feel out session against each other - upping the pace time and again.
Alex de Angelis only came out with about 10 mins left in the session.
The tech 3 yamahas did nothing.
Poor Marco - he was wallowing in last place until about 20 mins to go. Wet or dry, he's in deep .....
The kawasaki's had really quick top speeds all through the session.

Yea I noticed that the Kawasakis were fast too. Strangely, the Tech 3 yams were pretty much the slowest.

If it is a wet race, you can't bet against Stoner really. He destroyed everyone in the BMW session.

1 1 Casey STONER
2 46 Valentino ROSSI
3 56 Shinya NAKANO
4 13 Anthony WEST
5 21 John HOPKINS
6 69 Nicky HAYDEN
7 65 Loris CAPIROSSI
8 7 Chris VERMEULEN
9 50 Sylvain GUINTOLI
10 14 Randy DE PUNIET
11 4 Andrea DOVIZIOSO
12 48 Jorge LORENZO
13 33 Marco MELANDRI
14 15 Alex DE ANGELIS
15 24 Toni ELIAS
16 2 Dani PEDROSA
17 5 Colin EDWARDS
18 52 James TOSELAND

Shocking that JT and all the rookies are this slow in the DRY at Portugal!

DRY was the official classification of the track from MotoGP and FIM

I love this comment! The good are always good regardless of the conditions!

Yes but in FP1 in abnormal conditions we often se obscure results. Jerez FP1 last year was dry but cold and KRJR was fastest.

glad to see Rossi up there!

May the rain continue through out the weekend.

Motogp.com is saying that Vale highsided during FP1. Obviously he wasn't hurt because he was lapping quickly at the end, but he must of been pushing it.

Yeah ... Stoner and Rossi fastest ... how VERY obscure that is!

Just when I thought it was impossible to highside these electronically regulated bikes.

Or maybe Rossi doesn't use enough traction control?
