nice looks like michelin are gettin back in the game, i truly think that if michelin can supply some good rubber we may actually see some racing again.....

i hope it dont all fall apart tomoz with the race tyre , well done to nicky

i think you guys are saying michelin is back a little to early we havent seen the race yet and actually valentino was quoted as saying he was worried about doing race distance on the tire on friday

If only they could make a qualifying tire that lasted 28 laps.

Pedrosa is .5 slow.

My respect for him has grown now that he hasn't been handed a championship on a silver platter without putting in any work, but this result makes me happy.

I forgot Sosucky doesn't run well in Estoril. Hopper and Verme are going to have to grind for mid top 10s.

The big surprise of course is Tech3, the big disappointment is Kwak. What the hell are they doing back there?

This race might be good for all of 10 laps. Oh well, take improvement where you can get it.

The first corner is going to be very interesting with a real hard group at the front. The Suzuki boys are going to have to get past Elias, Guintoli, Melandri & Edwards to even have a shot at the lead group. If they get away well and the Michelins fade then the podium is there. It's a long shot but they have done it before.

Congrots Nicky he hit the last coner perfectly and took pole. Everyone else was driving down the rumble strip losing time. Huge result for Michelin.

This is just qual positions, so take my comments as a grain of salt, obviously the post race thread will be a better indicator of what is what. Having said that, it is always an admirable accomplishment to put together a lap that was faster than anybody else for a qualifying position.

As a Hayden fan, I'm very happy for the pole position. He’s been consistently improving throughout the season especially if you consider that podium finishes have been interrupted by racing incident crashes in the last few races. I hope he can maintain race pace and particularly hope that there will not be a first lap incident from some over eager rider trying to bonsai for position. I think Hayden will also be eager to show he can run well here in Portugal since the last time he was here he was torpedoed.

I also can't help but notice Stoner is the only Bridgestone runner in the top 6 positions. Wow, Casey really is that good. I think he has proven all season that he is truly a championship quality rider and able to dominate even when it appears that the tire of choice for this qualifying session was a Michelin. Of course, we will need to see what happens in the race to determine which, if any, is the preferred tire for this event.

Rossi has had some questionable comments lately, perhaps just human frustration, but it is obvious that when the talking heads are removed and he gets on a bike, he has outstanding determination as his Q3 position indicates.

For me the biggest surprise is Dunlop, two in the top 8, with the best as Q4. This is a good accomplishment. Yeah, sure this isn't a race but at least they've improved enough to compete during qualifying.

Biggest disappointment is Kawasaki. I realize they are on the Bstones for the qual (which like I said seems to be the liability) but last? When you are on a factory bike, you must beat the satellites with equal rubber I think.

Just a final note, Team Roberts is suffering. It’s not their fault. They have a Honda power plant, which is probably 3rd tier, if not 4th tier. God can only help them now.
