Engine Leasing In MotoGP?

It's a pretty audacious rumour, I would imagine there will be some discussion of it over the course of the week. Well, if there is anything to discuss.

Have the MSMA agreed to use the F1 engine leasing model as a counter-proposal to Dorna's spec-ECU?

Interesting. Back to the ROC and Harris Yammies.

Though, as michaelm alluded, if it goes through (along with whatever customer RCV Honda puts up), given the crapulent CRT performance, doesn't this mean the reign of Yam/Hon will continue? I thought the received wisdom was that Ez wanted to kill that duopoly.

I think that was the hope of many fans, but the thought of possibly losing Honda and Yamaha is enough to make Bridgepoint crap their pants. I always believed that the MSMA would find a way to avoid a spec-ECU, and I wasn't optimistic about leaving the 21L formula behind.

It took the MSMA a while to come around, but they eventually realized that private equity companies only want money, and they can be bought with half measures and compromises.

YES!!! This is what I've been hoping for.

Remember Jum!? I've spoken about this before and I believe this would be perfect for the series. I even believe this would help Ducati as they could sell their engines to teams with more experience in frame building and gain that knowledge in helping them develop better prototypes.

Also this could entice Aprilia, Kawasaki, and maybe even KTM to begin supplying engines to teams.

I like it. Let's do it

this would have been a good thing years ago, but i'd much prefer pissing off honda and introducing a no rider aides spec ecu /22-24Liter formula over having a couple more uncompetitive machines that are slightly faster than crt.

this maybe worked with the 2 stroke but i can't imagine say a kalex or suter yamaha to be a serious threat for podium positions (because of the chassis, and more importantly the "customer" engine).

ezy is such a spineless .... if all plans of spec ecu are really abandoned because of this
