<span style="color:#0000ffColin Edwards has been one of the standout Saturday performers thus far in 2008, qualifying on the front row of the grid for four of the opening five races to date. On Saturday he followed up on his Shanghai pole with second place, and is on course to make reality a bold prediction made to Tech 3 Yamaha Team Principal Herve Poncharal.

<span style="color:#0000ff`Everybody asks me and Colin why he does well in qualifying and not so well in the races. I honestly don´t know, but he said something to me after China. He spoke with me and said `I am going to win the French Grand Prix,´ recounted Poncharal after the qualifying session.

<span style="color:#0000ff`One day it has to happen. He´s fast. Let´s just hope that one day luck smiles on him,´ added the Frenchman after watching yet another sterling display from his veteran charge. `Colin has been going fast all weekend, and was unlucky that he was just beaten to pole. On the spot you´d be disappointed, but we´re pleased with an important front row. We just hope that the weather is good and we can give a good fight.

<span style="color:#0000ff`I thought I might have had pole, but everybody knows that you can´t count out what happens in the last two minutes of qualifying,´ said Edwards himself. `It would have been nice to get pole for my French team, but we´ve got tomorrow,´ he added.

<span style="color:#0000ffEdwards dropped down the field from pole at last year´s race, but has showed a strong race pace in Friday and Saturday´s practice session. Could his audacious prediction come true in Le Mans?

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%<span style="color:#000000Anyone care to..... aw what's the use.
More hot air from the Texas strong practice/qp man!

yeah, why not.
he has been fast here. it would be great to see colin win, the only problem for me would be the amount of anti rossi posts here compared to the the amount of posts singing colins praises i would have to read from the same old naysayers.

He's always been a great qualifier who doesn't deliver in races and I can't see tomorrow's race being any different.

I would like to see him prove me wrong but I can't see it happening.

Ditto

If it rains, I think it would even be less likely.

I think if we get mid packer to take the win, JT Loris or even Nicky will take it before Colin....sorry man you have lost my faith in ya

well colin said that to herve only, maybe he didnt want the world to know.. i believe he will do his best tomorrow and if someone is very motivated and confident then he can do great things.. hope colin and valentino will be on the podium..

He MAY just do it. Fastest in warm-up this morning, fastest in every split during FP3 and fastest overall race pace, plus a good grid slot. Could this be his day? I really hope he does it but he's Colin.........................

Jup, he may just do it, and I would be very happy for him. It was hart braking to watch his loss at Assen '06.

After the assen incident with Nicky it would take a pretty cold person to grudge Colin a win. Go for it Colin!

Edwards will NEVER win a motoGP race. Give his bike to someone younger with more hunger.

Edwards pulled out a podium.
I am not quite as impressed as I would be. He basically hung on the back of Pedrosa and Stoner. When Jorge caught him and passed he and Pedrosa... then Edwards looked to pass Pedrosa.

I think he may have saved his seat with the podium but he definitely is not living up to his talent and potential. I am beginning to think that he my just have the speed to fight with very elite guys but chooses not to for whatever reason.

I think politics has something to do with it.
He seems to make it to the front then defer to Ross/Lorenzo/peeders/Stoner....

Sad to say he just may be back for one more year....

The old guys are still here to stay... CEII, Capirex....
