I was watching Colin's post-race interview on motogp, and at the end he said his crew chief was leaving to work for 'wonderboy', and said it was sneaky and they deserved each other, was he talking about Toseland?
I thought they got on well.

I wouldn't read too much into it ..... Edwards is legendary for being a bit of a wag/jovial stirrer ( just watch the way he gets Stoner giggling like a little kid), but that comes with the expectation that one takes what he says with open mindedness.

I wonder if Edwards could be just stressing the fact he's allways the #2 rider ..... in effect all his co-team riders are allways "the wonderboys"

Nope, his track engineer had now shifted to JT's side of the garage for 2009.

Thanks, it was never going to remain a mystery. Colin seldom makes pointed comments, but I presume the engineer thinks JT is likely to remain in motogp for longer than colin even though colin scored more points than him this year.

I like Edwards' quote at the end of the interview about all the sneak round the back stuff. That he should describe losing his crew chief as a "Bombshell" has to mean he's not taking it well. The final quote at the end of the interview is "We're going to work with Guy and we're gonna destroy him." Him being Toseland. That Edwards is not happy about his crew chief's last minute surprise defection - is no great stretch.

I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the end of the interview.
He is not a happy camper. I get the impression he thinks he was shafted behind his back.
I wonder if Guy Coulon thinks the same. (Toselands crew chief) and now told he will be working with Colin. Whilst that isn't a problem I wonder if Guy will think " why am I being moved? "

Yeah, it surprised me, up til then it was typical, fairly bland interview.

This is what surprised me though, he didn't come across as joking, he seemed genuinely pissed off.

We don't know who Tech 3's sponsor is going to be, we didn't even really know who it was this year.

I suspect Michelin footed the bill for 2008 and now that they are gone. Herve is still scrambling to find someone for next season. "Wonderboy" probably is the most marketable and Herve is most likely trying to find some British sponsorship money. Colin's crew chief may have been sent to support Toseland and the sponsors he represents for next sesaon.

It wouldn't surprise me if Colin and James don't get on perfectly well. Colin is brash, laid back and candid. James is the exact opposite---polite, intense, and professional. They are definitely two different peas in the same pod.

Considering your hunt for consipiracies it's quite amazing that you didn't know as this was all in the open allready in '07. But I guess that's part of what most conspiracies are about; "forget" that the facts where there in first place and later pretend they are some hidden truth digged up by the "clever investigators"

In 2007 they got free tires from Dunlop. When they showed up in 2008 with no stickers, and new paint scheme that was suspiciously similar to Michelin's, they had my attention.

Now you see, I could have phrased that like this:

Well, I can't believe you didn't know they were on Dunlops in 2007. OMG you're a kook who's constantly in denial. Get back into the flock you sheep.

I could have, but I didn't. You owe me.

Anyone actually caring for motorbike racing knew about the Michelin deal late in '07 as that's when the deal was anounced. It was all there, sponsor deal and all. In '07.

Now, go back to your silly theories instead of trying to get the facts right. Theories are obviously your strong side, facts are not.

I said when they showed up with no stickers and a Michelin paint scheme. No one was surprised by the tires.

There was no sponsorship announcement. Only a Michelin paint job.

Just read this weeks MCN. Colin is mighty pissed at James.

I did however read Colins retort rather humerous:

"His only option now is to win races. He's got no excuses now."

So Colin, what's your excuse been for 6 years and no wins?

That's exactly what I was saying to a mate of mine earlier today.

i wouldn't pay too much notice to anything that MCN has to say. it's the Daily Sport of motorcycle journalism.
