Edwards Asks Yamaha for 'The Goods'

Well if that is the case and Spies is in fact riding 2009 spec equipment that IMO makes his accomplishments this year that much better.

its Tech .... squad simple

i dont rate the team at all these last few yrs

If i was Yamaha i would be asking Edwards for the goods. He's been dreadful this year

when Colin says "us", does he mean him and Ben or his side of the garage? for example, Ben usually uses "we" to refer to him and his team. so maybe Ben, being employed by Yamaha, has access to better equipment than Colin. that could explain why he has been performing so poorly.

From article

The Texan has thus far failed to come anywhere near his 2009 form, and the Tech3 rider things the package he and Spies are using is the problem.

This may go some way in explaining why

They are both whining like Marco Melandri in 2006.

Guys have been riding junk equipment for ages without much complaint, but Ben and Colin cue the string section now that they lose a few tenths here and there. They are on satellite bikes, they can't win races or the championship anyway. Both of them are worried about championship placement bonuses from their sponsors. Yamaha don't care about that.

Wasn't everyone crying just last year b/c Yamaha would throw their old equipment in the crusher? Now they want the 2009 bikes crushed.

I really dislike 800cc GP and the way satellite bikes work these days, but you'd think Colin had never had a bad bike before. You'd think he'd tell Ben to keep quiet so he doesn't get a Biaggi rep.

Good point

Maybe Yamaha should ask Colin for a rider who's up to date. It seems to me his sell by date expired right after Assen 2006.

Ben didn't whine about the equipment...he was asked straight up by OTT and he reluctantly (almost in embarassment), but obviously unhappily answered the question. He dropped it after and didn't belabor the point.

I guarantee he is happy to be where he is at the moment, is thankful for the opportunity and understands the politics of the situation. He is doing quite well considering an equipment defecit...his performance should be that much better when he does get the good gear.

These are the quotes I'm talking about. From the speed article:

"I feel Colin Edwards (teammate) and I are riding the package we've got the best we can but Yamaha needs to step up for the satellite bikes. With the Honda satellite bikes there is not a huge difference to the factory bikes, but there is a pretty big gap at Yamaha. Colin and I are hurting right now that’s for sure."

Not exactly bashful. For a guy who might be riding FIAT Yamaha next season, he needs to be more calculating.

It is particularly irksome b/c these are two of the best SBK riders on the planet. They can have any bike they want in WSBK and they are/were both capable of reaching Foggy or Bayliss numbers. Both of them have chosen to eat crumbs off of the GP table. No whining.

Your comparing Spies' bitching to Melandri. http://www.powerslide.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/.....gif

Interesting that JB wanted Colin to replace Rossi, saying that he felt the Fiat team could maybe put CE on a race winning bike at Laguna, to hopefully get him his first win....

Spies isn't normally that outspoken either.......? Yamaha have been doing some funny things lately??

Boohoo my chassis sucks.

Neither of them are as whiny as Melandri, but they are both complaining about the same thing.
