Hi Everyone, I have been reading a few threads and interviews about the state of the tyre situation.
I came to think that,

What would Tech 3 have done this year with Tosland and Edwards if they were still running Dunlops as they didnt have any tyres rules about allicated tyres etc. concidering Michliens problems this year, SG near top finish last year, and Tosland having won a title on Dunlops in WSB, also Edwards being good a tyre developments.

Your thoughts please

ALSO good to see Toni Elias performing this weekend long time no see.

well i for one was sad to see dunlop go mainly because its a british company.
they did very well with the tech 3 team and looked to be moving steadily forward. i dont think t3 are doing any better on michilins now

Tech 3 have suffered in the last few races along with the other michelin runners, but their early results were head and shoulders above anything they did on Dunlops, I doubt Edwards and Toseland would be 6th and 11th if they were on Dunlops.

I think that Dunlop would have gone well with the tyre rule (IMO) BUT there were too many changes all at once in the series, 800cc - fuel restriction - tyre rules and so on.

Against Michelin in 2006 they looked bad, and the question is would they have been in the same place in 2008.

I think Dunlop need to wait for the smoke to settle and come back in. I'll throw this up as a example to show why sitting it out is a good thing just now.

Just say for example in 2007 (or 2008) they came on with the Alice Ducati team. Now up until this race with Elias (loved it too - good to see the other Duc riders “getting” the damn thing) the results of Alice were absolute rot DESPITE being on the winning tyres and winning bike.

Dunlop wouldn't have been able to decipher the causation of tyre/bike/rider in that circumstance and they may have attributed the Alice team form to their tyre when it was some other factor. I t would be very difficult to develop the tyre on what is a new and rapidly developing platform.

That said by 2009 it wouldn't hurt to allow them in on unlimited tyres again as the series should have found its feet after the various changes.

That is IF we haven't got a single tyre manufacturer by then...
