Anyone else think it's pointless that Dunlop use qualifiers during free practice? I know that they are not restricted to the same rules as michelin and bridgestone, but I think it's a total waste of time to use qualifiers in a free practice. Ok it puts the bikes near the top of the timesheets but its not a true reflection of race pace. Then come saturday afternoon when everyone uses qualifiers the Dunlop guys are still at the back of the grid, cus they are crap.

yes fair enough it does get the guys publicity, but I also reckon it highlights further how bad the Dunlops are. Their qualifiers are only able to match the times of the other brands race tyres and then get beat by the other qualifiers. I reckon they'd be better off, working on a more competitive race tyre.
He only used a qualifier for the last few minutes of practice so i donmt think it really matters!

Dunlop need to test tyres to improve tyres, if they do more laps on qualifyers they can get more feedback and ultimately improve faster. Also the riders will be more comfortable on the Q tyre on saturday, know what to expect and have a better idea of the adjustemnts to the bike they need. That will help them get a better grid position when it matters. Additionaly the boost on the time sheets will be good publicity and a psychological boost for the riders. I think its a good idea.

well top 10 for sg today,only 0.8 off the pole time so not that crap after all, wouldn't you agree ??

It does have a lot to do with the riders you know, and with SG not certain for a ride next year, it won't do him any harm to be seen at the top.
