Spanish media reports that Ducati is very interested in getting Bautista in their team.

Read here and here

Apparantly Ducati would like to "build him up" from the start, leaving him in 250 next year with a team of his choice (probably Aprilia and Aspar) and then getting him into the satellite team in 2009 to soften the pressure of being in the MotoGP a bit. But in 2010 they'd like to get him on the official factory bike.

Of course this is all only words yet, no actions in terms of getting a contract or anything. But interesting anyway.

Bautista also seems to attract a lot of attention from other factories like KTM, who are said to have offered a huge deal already. But Bautista is very loyal to Aspar who "rescued" him after the horrible 2005 season.

He's my favorite rider in the 250 class. I can't wait til 2009 WTF! I guess I'll have to watch him .... on Lorenzo for the rest of the season(HOPEFULLY!)

Unlikely, Lorenzo is obviously better. Bautista is a brilliant rider for sure but he is having a usual rookie season, but i expect him to be world champion next year after the top 3 riders move on.

actually, i'd think that his first season in 250 is slightly better than usual. but i agree with the expectations about next year.

and: lorenzo might be better right now and on this bike. but we'll see what happens later in the motogp class. i'm already excited to see that.

Well his season is good, he's already got a win, but not brilliant a la Pedrosa 2004 (champion in rookie season). Still he is the most charismatic Spanish rider by far, so he will be in MotoGP 100% sure soon, because not only he is talented, he will have sponsors backing him up economically.

I read that rumour on tuesday and I'm not too sure it's true, I think it's unlikely Ducati has planned 3 years in advance when they didn't know what to do with Capi a few months away from his contract expiring.

well, i think we can't expect everyone to be as successful as pedrosa in his first season, right?

i agree with the sponsors - already looking pretty good in the aspar team right now, don't think that will change much in motogp class.

yeah, i'm not so sure about these rumours either. but since there were about half a dozen spanish online magazines who wrote a lot about it, i thought that there might be at least a bit of the truth in it. who knows? but we'll see soon if it's true or not i think.
