I know what you mean, I've never really liked him. But I get the feeling he won't last long at Ducati. Just ask Troy/Carlos/Sete how the Red Army deals with lack of performance.

man i gotta agree with this 1. it's gonna be an expensive year for ducati me think's!

I think Ducati is gonna keep stoner for a little wile yet. Capirossi isn't gonna be around forever, and they need a young talented rider that they can call their own. Casey won't go back to another works team unless he is given equal equipment and equal development input, i don't see that happening outside of ducati for at least 2 years.

if stoner really struggles i doubt ducati will hesitate to give him the boot. i think his contract is only for 1 season.

Yeah but id capirossi leaves this year they won't want an all new team for 08 with now experience on the bike will they? I guess they could take a rider from the Dantin team, but i think Barros isn't up to the job yet, and Hoffman needs more time before we'll know if hes good enough.

Thing is, i don't expect Stoner to struggle this year, i expect race wins.

i think ur in the minority on this 1.

if stoner comes good your right. but if he struggles badly im sure they would consider doing so. but i guess we'll have to wait & see.

Am i really. I spent most of this year laughing at him for crashing so much. But i have faith, he is clearly talented and its way to early to right him off now.

Does everyone think hes gonna be a nobody?

He'll obviously do better this season than he did last and will be more settled. Can rely on him for not crashing out though!

Short answer: Yes.

He had plenty of opportunities to do it on a Honda this year, and threw away good podium chances by being too hotheaded.

It's a good attitude, but now always the best for a championship.

You guys are a little harsh on him, given it was only his rookie year. It took Hayden 2 and a half years to win a race, and Stoner is so young he has time. I think his year comes accross worse than it was because he is naturally compared to Dani Pedrosa

But the Ducati seems to be a harder bike to ride than the Honda, which could work against Stoner. Of course, the bikes are all-new this year so we might see changes. But the tyres will still come into it. I think someone mentioned a more forgiving front tyre, that could help Stoner (and Barros, for that matter) But the problem with bridgestones is they still can't outlast the Michelins. That might change this year, but even with a more stable front, Stoner will have to learn not to go hell for leather in the first five laps, or he wont have the grip to finish at the front, even if he keeps it rubber side up. He's got talent, I think he just needs to ride smarter to be at the front. He might have fixed the hotheadedness, it might have been a rookie thing. But then again, he was like that in 250s as well... Time will tell wether he'll be a front runner or a grid filler, but I still don't like him.

or

"OKAY GUYS! ... Hands up whose Italian??"

... i need something better to do with my time

Hehe nice.....

I disagree with all of you though, I think Stoner is clearly a talented rider, his first few races last season went very well. So he crashed a lot, I put it down to it being his rookie year. Not everyone is Dani Pedrosa, quick from the off. Most rookies are either Stoner or De Puniet, trying too hard and falling off a lot as a result. The others are Chris Vermeulen and Elias last year, absolutely nowhere in their first year, slowly picking up the experience and knowledge and improving their results. You can't judge someone from their first year.
