I didn't know they had ever left.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>This is something that we had always planned to do since we were appointed as Official Tyre Supplier last year.”

I think I vaguely remembered a DORNA press release that featured an interview with Weber. I believe I pointed out that one of the highly trained DORNA press officers missed the part where Weber said that Michelin counted the number of left <span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%OR right turns to decide what compound to choose.

I believe some people said I was insane.

This one's for the haters

Sorry Lex, I don't get it... are you lookin' for props for realizing exactly what custom tyres are?

No, I'm just having a go at all of the people who said I was nuts when I claimed dual compound tires had been thrown out.

Not only did Bridgestone say they were bringing dual compounds back, but they said they had wanted to bring them back since they were appointed as the single tire supplier. Bridgestone went out of their way to tell the fans that dual compounds were not banished when the control tire was adopted.............it happened prior to the control tire debacle.

Thanks Bridgestone.

This may be the reason for Nicky's new pace and not his "radical" change. What does the crystal ball say Lex?

Like I said in the other thread, it's obviously beneficial but I don't think it's the cause for the change. Ryder said the compound is still rather hard, which likely wouldn't entirely clear up the trouble Hayden has had getting heat into the rears.

I asked: "Is Nicky Hayden's newfound pace related to the new dual compound tires?"

A: Outlook not so good.

I asked: "Is Nicky's set up working mainly because Bstone has brought the hardest compound tires?

A: My sources say no

Interesting. It's supposed to answer yes twice as often as it says no. This is encouraging. Maybe Nicky's pace is here to stay. He still has a big hurdle to jump, though. I think Nicky has also opted to ride an old electronics package with less TC (same as Stoner). Nick is the master of burning fuel, I hope he can maintain pace over race distance.

Interesting. BTW, the lightning didn't screw up the crystals, did it?

I am mounting a set of Bridgestone BT016's to the SV tomorrow. Nicky wishes he could have the rubber I ride....Okay, I know their tires are a ton better but I went mental thinking that Bridgestone was going to bring one compound tires all year. Now they show up with the goods. I am impressed.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Nicky Hayden)<div class='quotemain'>Most riders were worried about conserving tyres during Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix, but Hayden has the opposite problem. The American is still unable to use the harder of the Bridgestone rear tyre options and even struggled to get the softer option up to temperature at Jerez.
Pretty sure that that's no an isolated comment - Hayden's been having problems getting tires up to temp all season, so a hard tire isn't likely to be a miracle cure. Whatever he's found is unlikely to be mainly down to hard tires.

Thanks for the links. I was more concerned with what Nicky's bike is doing at the front.

If he can run more weight at the front and he has more confidence in the front, he should be able to carry more speed through the turns. Higher cornering speeds with a softer rear shock should help put more heat in the rear. A different set up at the rear requires different electronic settings. Nicky is rumored to be running a new electronics package as well.

What are the chances they get it right on the first go round?

If this solution proves to be successful, Nicky will need hard compounds at the front in order to continue running his new setup.
