Hi,

I’ve recently done my test so I’ve got rid of my 125 to get a 33hp or so bike. When I was younger I did a bit of motocross, I’m 17 now and wouldn’t mind going back to doing some off road stuff. It’ll also be used each day for going to college on main roads, so does anyone have a DRZ? If so, what are they like etc. Would it be to much for off roads? Or what would be better in my position?

Thanks a lot, Aidan.

It's the best bike in the world...i have the X-RAYS to prove it

You should be a spokeperson for Suzuki and their bikes Al.

Those were the bikes I was looking at. Beats the price of the KTM's and Yamaha's. It is more reliable than a Aprilia, as baldy about those.

That made me laugh and not the part about the X-Rays
<

Should be best beginners bike in the world, it really is a great tard to start out with

Curve I'm sure you think that because you can probably ride the bike to its full potentail but if I gave you a Crf and you had both bikes in the garage which would you take out and claim the best

Smaid you've got some off road experience so I think you would get bored of the Drz pretty quick, there really isi'nt a bad tard on the market all Chinese manufactures excluded, top of my list would be a Ktm but as HF pointed out the Drz beats the Yamaha's etc.... on price but you get what you pay for, anyway there are plenty of excelent 2nd hand bike to be found even a Drzzzzzzzzzzz
<

At the end of the day it comes down to the rider, take a Drzs for a test ride and see what you think, we can nominate bikes all day long but your going to be riding it
<

Take a look at this peach

Yes if i also had a CDF 450 in the garage and wanted to go to the track or for a hill country hooliganism..it would be the CRF...BUT as a daily beater round town there is nothing better than the DOZZER...witch answers HIS question i believe. ;0

Thanks for the info, nice one.

Looks like I should have one by the end of the week (I hope). Need to find a new exhaust, and take the restrictor back out when I've got the certificate. Does anyone know how much bhp it makes when its completely standard? Sorry to keep asking questions, I'm excited and cant wait to get out on it

Haha, my friends Dad had a CR500 a while back and we both had a little go on it just around a field - the thing is ....... nuts. He's my age and this was a good 4 years back, he rode it around Matchams as well, don't think he got out of 2nd gear in fear of his life.

I had a S model. I can't remember for the life of me what the hp numbers are. I would like to say low 30ish. The only thing it needed was a sixth gear.

Check out the forum thumpertalk.com for some great info on singles.

OOOH - lets see - you should see a DRZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz easily pumping out 6 or 7 horsies

<

get a real mans bike man - SXV all the way (to the garage
<
)

I've not got the bike, all is good, except the steering lock has a key snapped of inside it, this got me a nice little discount but wouldn't mind being able to use the lock lol. Does anyone know if it will be possible to get the key out?

If the remaining key is close to the key whole(you can easily see it) Hunt down a very small drill bit at will allow you to drill into the key with out hitting the lock. Use white paper tape around the bit to mark how far you would like to drill the hole(don't need or want to go too deep) You will want to drill a hole at about a 45 degree angle. Use a small brush or blow the metal scraps out from the drilling. Spray WD40 into the lock. Next just remove the drill bit from drill and insert bit upside down in to the hole and pull out the broken key. Don't do this if your not comfortable, you will have to take it to a locksmith. They do this all the time and should not charge you much.

Good luck.

and to think, they spent the next 5 yrs at least, de-tuning the engine to let it become more rideable!
the cr500 motor is a basic 2-stroke too, not even powervalved. imagine what could have happened if honda had valved one and slapped it into a desert racebike?
