.1 micrograms of cocaine?
<
What imbecile measured to those tolerances? If I were Red Bull I would sue.

Searching for trace amounts in that quantity is a political maneuver.

coca cola , pepsi and Dr pepper all used to have cocaine as an ingredient once hence the name's.
<

Altho the trace amounts found are not enough to get a fly stoned, is it enough to fail a drug test at work ?

the trace amounts are to help alleviate altitude sickness from all the air travel the wings give you...

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was a set-up by Red Bull.
I have heard on numerous occassions of false positives on drug tests due
to the molecular similiarities between cocaine and caffiene. While Red Bull
may get pulled of the shelves temporarily in some markets - I reckon in the
end - there will be hordes of dopes out there (like the ones that smoked bananna
peels in the '60s) who will buy the drink in hope of abusing it for a cheap
high. Whatcha want to bet their market share goes up significantly in the
next 6 months?

If this is a conspiratorial/marketing move, I think it's actually geared at eliminating liability. Energy drinks are starting to come under fire from governments around the world b/c of the explosive market growth amongst younger drinkers.

I'm not so sure this is an attempt to capture market share as much as it is an attempt to stigmatize the product to younger generations of drinkers whose parents forbid them from drinking liquid cocaine. As they grow older they will certainly start drinking it for the same reasons kids smoke cigarettes when they turn 18.

I'm not certain this is a marketing campaign by Red Bull, though. If you read the article it says the Chinese government seized over 18,000 cases of Red Bull. Angering the Chinese government is NOT a good way to increase market share and increase profits.

The image was grabbed from another site and it incorrectly listed the image
as Benny Solis Jr age 10. The other guy ain't a drug king-pin either.
Upon re-researching it turns out they are Luis Salom with King Carlos of Spain.

How much you want to bet the Chinese govt. will find someway to re-sell the confiscated goods on the black market and put the money in the pockets of politicians? Nothing that makes money - goes to waste in China.
