<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Sorry but I gotta disagree with part of your statement, Hayden doesnt want title and win, he wants title and a nice steady 5th place, if he wanted more , he'd be finishing up front more. Can we all please forget the last race, and admit that Hayden has lost the title lead coz he cant beat Rossi head to head. 2 wins and 1 DNF does not make you a champion. Sorry Nicky, I do like you, but if you do win the title, you will be as memorable as Franco (who) Uncini
All riders want to win--isn't that obvious? But I'm pretty sure that they want world titles more. If Rossi was taken out on the first lap by... say De Puniet (wanting revenge for Le Mans
) and Hayden ended up in 5th place at the end of the race he'd be a worthy champion.
How do you think riders would like to look back on their careers? As multiple race winners like Mamola, or as champions like Lucchinelli and Uncini?
Consistency isn't a bad word, you know. Just ask Rossi. If Capirossi wins today leading from flag to flag, or Bayliss laps everyone three times, and the best Rossi can do is to finish second he will have won the championship by only winning one race in the second half of the season.

That's pretty lame, right? Only one race win, when your main title rival has been having his well documented bike problems and an infamous DNF. Maybe Rossi doesn't deserve to be champion this year.

Bottom line--whichever of the two come out on top they will be deserving champions after a great year of racing.
BTW, Uncini was a fine rider. He had to beat guys like Roberts and Sheene to win that title.
