Well done Knighter! I just hope that after a few seasons in the states, he gets a taste for Rallye Raids. We need someone to cheer at the front of the Dakar, not had that since Deaks died.

I dont think we can really count Charlie "what the .... has he actually acted in" Boorman as a contender for the brits!

Bye the way, does anyone know if Patsy's doin the Dakar this year?

This year they did two 40 mile laps. The rules were set up so that you had to finish the day lap within 1 hour of the first finisher to qualify for the night lap. David Knight completed first in 2 and 1/2 hours. They actually had to extend the time to finish to 2 hours after him so they could have more than 3 riders in the night lap.
128 riders started on the day lap. There was one female entrant, but I don't know how far she made it. I just know she was one of 117 that didn't finish the day lap.

11 people qualified for and started the night lap....only 2 finished.

mental - the nearest thing we have to that is the Western Super Mare Beach Race. - it's an odd event to say the least but looks great fun
