I really thought MM was going to be unbeatable in the foreseeable future, until this. Honda may have really screwed the puig (pooch) by getting rid if the incumbents and replacing them with Puig. DP might win a championship yet.

Thought Supo went on his own accord as opposed to Honda "getting rid", so a replacement was needed anyway. Maybe not the right appointment but we'll soon see.

I have come to respect MM, but will have to support others for the wins if Puig is the HRC team manager.
(Edit actually saw Iggy with James Williamson, Steve McKay and I believe Mike Watt on bass, in Sydney 4 years ago, something I never expected to see).

I suspect what it means is that probably for financial reasons the balance of power has changed in the relationship between Repsol and Honda.

There is precedent in Motorsport; Marlboro seem to be running Ferrari’s F1 team currently.

I similarly think Repsol ran Repsol Honda for a while.

Remember, a Spanish premier class champ seemed like a distant goal until Dani came along.

After Dani's 'Rossi-like' domination of 125cc and 250cc, Repsol went a bit berserk with anticipation in 2006 and 2007, and seemed to be dictating the terms to Honda.

They truly thought Dani's championship was just a question of time:
