There is rumors going around that Chris Vermeulen may be headed back to WSBK to take Troy Bayliss seat at Xerox Ducati. Id like to see CV stay in Motogp, but i guess a factory Ducati ride must be tempting. What are peoples thoughts on this..

If it's true it'll be sad to see him go - but I think in real terms the suzuki can't win motoGP but the ducati can win WSBK, and will win it this year.
I think CV deserves a ride on a honda or yamaha to see how good he is but it's not going to happen.
What is it with Aussies and ducati anyway?

I'd rather see him take Marcos place out of everyone else. Like that will happen.

I think Chris will stay a Suzuki.

Can't see him leaving, hes starting to get some very good results in motogp.

I wudnt want to see him leave moto gp especially after his performance seems to be on the up, but in the same breath it would be nice to see him move to WSBK and win a few championships.

Like Hopper, Vermeulen has shown on numerous occasions that he has world class speed. I think it would be a tragedy for him to stay with Suzuki. That team hasn't delivered the goods since the 2-stroke era.

I hope he takes a payday and moves to Xerox.

CV deserves to stay in MGP, even though I believe we have not yet seen the best of him in his three years so far (I generally say give them three years and judge).

Now, just to throw a curve ball a little bit.

Rumours are around (only in forums, cannot find articles) that Alberto Puig seems to have an 'unhealthy' influence at HRC/Repsol and has allegedly made some form of effort to veto Dovioso becoming the Repsol #2. Is it possible that HRC may take on CV?

Now theres an idea... CV to hrc, Dovi to suzuki maybe ? I cant really see CV getting a factory honda but you never know. I think the main question is who's more willing to put up with the nicky hayden treatment.

Loose Rod,

I looked at that link and it is only an opinion piece, however it is somewhat probable and may be used as a leverage item to get CV into the Ducati motogp team later on.

Bayliss went from SBK to motogp but failed to come to terms with the bike (actually the bike failed to come to terms with itself).

I think CV is loyal to his team like all Australians are (Aussies don’t get sponsors to take from team to team and tend to be a little more grateful for the ride) and will probably stay with Suzuki hoping for a breakthrough, which I rate as a bit of a shame and a long shot.

I would love to see CV in SBK as I think he has unfinished business there.

Vermuelen needs to stay in MotoGP, he's got the talent to win races in the dry as well as the wet. I don't see him getting a HRC ride, or Dovi going to Suzuki. Dovi has been very loyal to Honda all through his career so if anyone is going to get the HRC ride, it will be him. The Suzuki is almost there imo, with some persistance it can be a race winning machine again. I feel Chris should stay on and get some more years under his belt with good results, and hopefully the Suzuki will improve or he'll be offered a Ducati/Honda ride... hopefully..

As much fun as it is to play conspiracy theory, I don't think even Puig has that sort of power. Especially considering how loyal Dovi has been through his 250 days and the promise he shows. Although Honda want to see Pedrosa win it for them, I think they've become desperate and would like to see anyone win. And if this actually does work out to be true, I think Melandri may be a more likely candidate to take the second seat than Vermeulen.

This is just something I've been kicking around in my head for the past couple of days. So let's say the whole Nicky to Ducati thing is a done deal, announced and all. And let's say that Hayden can't make it happen, not a Melandri case but just not consistently there. Ducati now have one of the most talented SBK riders in the world contracted to their factory, perhaps they could leverage Hayden to move to WSB for them in exchange for a payday. Not saying that this type of thing will be written into a contract or anything, just realizing that Ducati probably realize it's win/win for them because if Hayden can't do the business on Stoner's bike it's likely his last ride in GP. And there's Ducati sitting pretty, "We're really quite disappointed we couldn't make things better for you here, but what do you say you give the 1098 a shot? We've got money..."

Oh, and I don't see Vermeulen going anywhere.

I wouldn't rule anything out at this point. The most reliable indicator of upheaval (or at least major change) is coming from Nicky Hayden.

It seemed that Nicky signing with Ducati was a foregone conclusion, but many reliable sources have reported he is sitting on the Ducati offer. Nicky's comments have been consistent throughout the entire season:

1. <span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%IF things continue the way they are, it ain't gonna work
2. I'm just waiting to see what Honda want to do

Nicky is revealing that Honda are unsure about the future and are considering a fundamental change. I can only imagine 2 changes that would lead Nicky to remain with Honda.

1. Bridgestone
2. Removal of Puig/Pedrosa

The fans are clamoring for close racing more than ever before. I'm sure Honda realize Ezy is taking steps to level the playing field. Furthermore, I think they realize they aren't going to develop a bike in the near future capable of outclassing the other race winning manufacturers.

If the racing is going to be fierce fighting, Dani Pedrosa is the last man you want carrying your team.

I can't imagine Honda will attempt to get CV for the factory outfit, but if they do, it would seem certain that the manufacturers have decide to ban a litany of electronic equipment.

I dont know if he is gone or isn't, but I'd hate to see M-GP lose a talented rider to WSB considering the state of M-GP today.
Beyond other things that need to be fixed to "bring back" THE RACING, they need to keep all the talent as well, and I belive CV does have the talent to win consistently, he just needs a good ride

It would be interesting to know the details of CV's contract. Apparently there is a performance clause but how could they enforce it when they are really riding an updated 2008 bike that has no chance of winning? I think Chris will wait to test the new machine in Brno and then he'll see what is coming in Suzuki's garage. Ducati want Hayden and he should switch.

Nicky should try to negotiate the bayliss ride... they are both in the same pay bracket.

I have this funny feeling both CV and NH are "on the cards, fo Duc. where each goes is a good guess though. I was more thinking CV ... moto ..... NH to Xerox
