Could this be the difference between Spies

I think people jump to conclusions and predictions way too quick here! Spies put in a very good performance in the test he had, I dont think he's been fully tested yet (motoGP anyway). Its whether he can keep it up in a consistent way that will be the difference. Wasting time making predictions, better off waiting for when he rides bikes.

Its about fire in the belly which makes a quality rider in the end, preparing to take risks and learn even if it means coming off now and then. We'll see if he's got it, Stoner will always make him feel like he's not good enough ;-)

You dont beat Matt Mladin 3 years running and Haga in your rookie season without fire in your belly. As far as getting in his head,aint gonna happen. I would go as far as to say that there is NO ONE in GP that will be as big a prick as Mladin,and he was a teammate.Spies does not have outward emotional fire, and that is something Mladin couldnt get a grip on. He tried and tried to get inside Spies head but never came close. The kid just kept calm cool and collected and hammered away, and in the end Matt would be the one who made the crucial mistake. If Spies doesnt succed in GP,it wont because lack of fire in his gut.

I'm not a yank and Spies has got me watching, I don't seriously think JT ( who has always been on my fav's list) or a lot of the other WSBK rider had that same level of grit or go.

I agree with you but then i don't agree with Brett making fire in the belly the major requirement to reach the top. We got enough riders willing to risk it going beyond their limits, nothing wrong with the fire there either. The question is if Spies have the talent and skill to once more up his speed and fight with the top dogs, or ailiens as they are named here.
Just becuase he as won everything so far doesn't mean the final step will be as easy. In that regard Brett were right; time will show. I expect good showing from spies how good remains to be seen.

Thanks, someone agrees with something I said . Spies will be another Hayden, Hopkins, Pedrosa - yes they are very good at riding a bike but don't have that little bit extra (fire in their belly) to take them past Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo. Thats my prediction anyway and Im happy to be wrong but all I can say is 'we'll see!' I predicted Stoner and Lorenzo to be right at the top when they were a lot younger, they know how to ride bikes fast even if everything is not perfect - to me that means fire in the belly which is born into them
