So I bought the offseason pass today so i could watch live testing during my lunchbreak.

For whatever reason, I couldn't watch live testing. Hopefully I can in Sepang.

But I still want to get my money's worth, and the pass allows me to watch older races. I dont have time to watch 20 years worth of GP, so I'm after some suggestions as to which ones are worth watching.

I only started properly following GP this year, so anything previous is fair game. You can see my favourite riders for ideas of races I'd enjoy (I've already seen Catalunya 2009) but I also have no knowledge whatsoever of the likes of Stoner or Simoncelli so I'll probably be looking to check out some of their highlights too.

WATCHED

-Laguna 2008

-Estoril 2006

-Jerez 2007 250cc

from the 4 stroke era:

catalunya 07

welkom 04

mugello 06

estoril 06

philip island 09(<< if you want to see why everyones chewing on stoners ....)

250s in general offered some great racing, if you wanna see some hardcore riding check out jorges 250 years (2005-07 IIRC)

Check out Suzuka 2001, when Rossi was a young lion dueling with a rider named Max Biaggi, who could be best described as Casey Stoner without the talent. In that race, Biaggi elbows Rossi off the track, but Rossi brings it back, eventually overtakes Biaggi, and gives him the finger after he passes him. Probably one of the most famous moments in GP history.

Speaking of giving the finger after overtaking: Barry Sheene did the same thing to Kenny Roberts, at Silverstone in 1979, I believe. That was more playful, though-the animosity between Rossi and Biaggi was real. You can check that out on Youtube.

And, of course, there's Laguna 2008, which was such a memorable (and controversial) duel between Rossi and Stoner that Rossi still talks about it.

I'm sure I'll think of more later on-this is one of my favorite subjects.

Fo many years I suspected that this was staged. Finally ascertained this was indeed the case and that following a pre race agreement Sheene and KR only raced each other for the final four laps or so. What is so amusing about Bazza flipping the bird is Murray Walkers assertion that he was waving at Kenny.

Yet you're missing the most important one, if memory serves.

Defo watch Phillip Island 2003 - Rossi's 10 second penalty for overtaking under yellows.

2006 no doubt?

Can't be that because you have it in your collection. You're welcome. You get one more guess. "VHS" is the operative word.

Catalunya 07 is still my favorite race of the modern era (haven't seen too many 500GP)

Gotta watch Catalunya 2009 and Jerez 2005. Jerez particularly because it is an integral part of Rossi's legend.

Watch PI 2000 or 2001. Can't remember which. One of them was a barn burner. Haga was racing. I guess that makes it 2001? The memory is getting rusty.

Actually, wasn't that by virtue of you buying it? Apologies, I should mail it to you.

Can't believe this has only just dawned on me even though it was so glaringly obvious. You're referring the 5 in a row in '01 aren't you, which is conspicuously absent from my archives.
