WAY more than any other country.

The only logical reason to have another USGP is to have one on the east coast because the USA`s so huge. Italy will get a 2nd GP next. I think it`s a bit crap, I mean, I know the Spanish fan base is huge, and Dorna gotta cater to that, but which one is THE Spanish GP? One per country makes it more special. But money talks.....

i only juz realised that spain had three .... jeez ... looks like i know where im going next year ....
OH TEO! WHICH TRACK WOULD BE CLOSEST TO ALICANTE (or how ever its spelt
<
)?

it won't be much good in they stop the GP's at phillip island ...
they would never move back to eastern creek, as good at it is, it needs to be updated.
hmmm ... how is the facilities at queensland raceway richo?

what do you think the maximum amount of races in a season they would knock it up to?

Of course I'm gonna say the US needs another GP.....and I'm from the East Coast too...hahaha...played right into your hand...(what about Road Atlanta)..the US is a growing market for MotoGP....truly untapped in a sea of NASCAR fans.....poor saps....they don't know what racing really is.....anyway, Dorna just signed Misano, Italy....so there's the 2nd Italian GP......

I think "THE" Spanish GP has to be Jerez....Valencia kind of belongs to everyone in my mind since it is the last race....

But Jerez is the first race, and in years where Rossi has been dominating and Championships don`t come down to the last race anymore, the first race can be a lot more exciting.
It`s possible that MotoGP could grow in the US, but Nascar fans..... I don`t know. You gotta ask yourself if they've got enough intelligence to be classified as Humans, being entertained so easily. MotoGP has it`s roots in Europe, and while Laguna Seca might have looked popular and a good sign for another GP, the simple fact that Spain (Which isn`t in OPEC as far as I know) has 3 GPs speaks volumes about how massive it must be over there in comparison.
Australia has roughly the same culture as the US. Dirt bikes dominate motorcycle sales. Therefore MotoX is a lot more popular. I think Ooost said that Nicky Hayden`s popularity in the states is nothing compared to RC. In Europe it`s road racing. Minibikes become 80cc GP bikes, which become 125s, which become 250s, which become MotoGP bikes. On our side of the world it`s dirtbiking becomes small time dirtbike racing which MAYBE becomes Supersport/Superbike but more likely becomes Supercross. The culture`s not set up for GP racing to be massively popular like it is in Europe.

BELIEVE ME....I've asked myself that question toooo many times....the US is huge but unfortunately driven by the marketing machine....all the rednecks and drunks (which I'm sure you guys got too) all clammer to the Nascar tracks to watch more idiots turn left 1000 times.....

Ooost is right, RC is a huge name and a great talent. I don't watch as much dirt racing, not quite as big in the Northeast where I'm from....

Another reason GP's are so huge in Europe is that motorcycles are more "used"....in the US, all these greedy rich people would rather spend 50 grand on a Cadillac Escalade than 8k on a new sportbike.....

Still love to see an East Coast GP....then I wouldn't have to travel 3000 miles to see Laguna this year....

On the upside, you`ve got a beutiful country, and it must be awsome to cross it on a bike. It`d take some time though. Here we got the cities on the east coast, then the mountains, which are good, then desert, an long, straight roads for thousands of miles, which are covered in stupid brain dead Kangaroos who only cross the bitumen (If there`s any bitumen) when they see a vehicle coming at speed.

way to dangerous! they'ed have to spend some serious coin on that place. won't happen. the 2nd gp overhere will be miller. i know it's not the east but it's a bit closer than laguna. wife's cousin lives 40 min from the track too!!!

The good news for American road racing is sport bike sales in this country are higher than ever. Nicky Hayden is featured on Honda commercials during mainstream sports television so it's improving.

Personally, I don't think the US will get a second round. Not until the fan base gets to higher levels. If they do, or when the Laguna Seca contract ends in 2010, it will be Miller Motorsports Park or possibly Road America if the changes are good enough.

Richo, what have oil resources to do with racing?

I shouldn't complain....getting to Laguna is going to be half the fun for me....myself, and two buddies are truckin the bikes to Carson City, NV and then riding through Yosemite to Merced...then to Laguna....our girls are flying in to meet us in Carson for the ride....

So that means another 5 years at least of pain and possibly deaths.

I've always had them, I just try to wear 'em only when fashionable.

There's nothing wrong with the track. Catalunya is a very safe venue, what happened last weekend was more the fault of launch control and rider aids that keep riders bunched up at the front. It could have happened anywhere.

Can blame the F1 marking line too - that must be erased before every motogp race -they have a diffent level of grip.
