Attended 2011 rally day at Castle combe at the weekend with the owners club There were some very cool and historic cars at the event. It rained on and off all day but that did not stop the fun.

The Richard Burns foundation arranged for the RB5 and RB320 owners club members to do a couple of laps to raise money which was an honour .

My wife won a ride for me with an ex rally driver in an ex burns car. Problem was it was at the same time as my parade laps so i had a choice, that or drive my car. Of course i snubbed the offer of the works car and sent my son instead. Alexs Burns (the late Richard's dad a real gent) signed my numbered cars tax disc holder for me.

Mk1 or mk2 ? Love a fast ford

It was a Mk2 absolutely gorgeous and he was only asking £3500 because he was in a pickle financially but got sorted just before the sale.

We are still mates and he sold her last year for £15000 with a 3.1 pinto engine as a spare lump thrown in.

THE .......!!!!

Rog....they are 17's. The STi's here in the States come with 18's.

They look very similar to my wheels. 18s will give you a little more torque but 17s have a wider choice and cheaper tyres. What tyres have you fitted ? mine came standard with prerelli corsa but i have fitted goodyear F1 asimetric which are superb in the wet. Trouble is has mine are 235/40/18 there about £190 each

They are Dunlop SP Sport 01's and they go for about $232.00 at a popular online tire store here in the States...damn! better start saving some nickels and dimes for tires.

scoobies do eat tyres especially the outer edges. Do you have driver controled center diff (DCCD) on mine its a switch by the hand brake. You can alter the all wheel drive or lock it if your stuck in the mud or snow ? I have it but have not really used it yet, bit of a waste for the road i think. I set it to max rear once, 70% rear i think and pulled away like a madman. Got a bit sideways and broke 6 out of the 12 eggs i had with the shopping in the boot (trunk) for you yanks lol

Nope, the WRX does not come with the center diff control, only the STi's. I'm not sure I could make good use of the DCCD around here except when the weather gets iffy and when the weather does get bad, I'll most likley drive my Explorer.

Its a bit of a novelty on a road car imho mate, geez mine even has adjustable rear ARB. Unless i ever intended to race it which i dont and knew what i was doing as a race driver which i dont its prety pointless.

I really love that colour on yours, whats it called? It looks like Rally blue to me. Mines called Obsidian black.
