Not only by Marquez. I think Dovizioso wanted Gabarrini back at Duc, but obviously the MM job at HRC looked more promising to CG.

Yep my first thought when i heard stoner was retiring was that ducati should do all they can to get gabster back.. good luck now

That was the case when he was first announced as casey's replacement but it was changed. Marquez wanted Gabbarini's experience.

And what Little Marquie wants, Little Marquie gets!

Probably more like - Factory job at HRC with an up-and-coming star, guaranteed 6-10 years employment at the top, if everything pans out, good travel and hotel perks, big salary and bonuses if Marquez wins some stuff

Or working for Ducati satellite team with a guy who didn't make it even when given all the toys, sharing motel rooms, eating at the commmisary, budget travel and a lot of driving...

I'm confident I know which one I would have chosen.

I suspect hrc may have wanted someone with premier class experience, and championship winning premier class experience at that, in charge of his crew whether it was mm's preference or not.

Yep, it's a little better than that, I believe. Marquez's crew chief, Hernandez will remain crew crew with Gabberini as 'senior advisor'. Or at least that's what I gleaned from a short TV interview with Cristian over the PI weekend. So it seems it's a little cushier than being direct crew chief.

That was what I remember reading, too.
