Does this mean the factory Ducatis are pulling out of BSB?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>GSE Racing has today, 17th September, announced that it will enter into a relationship with Yamaha Motor UK to compete in the British Superbike Championship over the next 3 years.

The partnership will see GSE Racing run the all new YZF-R1 with direct Yamaha factory support in a bid to see the manufacturer return to the days when it dominated British Superbikes with 3 consecutive British Superbike titles in 1996, 1997 and 1998.

Team Manager Colin Wright commented: ‘We are very excited about the new association with Yamaha, this represents a new challenge for the team but as ever we intend to be competing for the British Superbike Championship from the start’.

Team Principal Darrell Healey added: “We have had an excellent relationship with Ducati over the years, winning 3 British Superbike Championships and achieving numerous successes in the World Superbike arena. I’d like to thank them on behalf of the entire team for their support. We are, however, extremely pleased to be entering into this new agreement with Yamaha, and to be involved in directly developing the new YZF R1. This arrangement will see the start of a new era in superbike racing for GSE.”

Yamaha Managing Director, Andrew Smith, added: “We are delighted to be partnering GSE Racing, the UK’s most successful race team, and together I am confident we can successfully build a long term relationship both on and off the race track.”

Further details with regards to the partnership, sponsors and riders will be announced in due course

This is a definite kick in the bollocks for Rob Mac, and does this have any implications for the R1 Cup?

It will be interesting to see how GCE deals with developing a bike in house from a kit like HM plant do, rather than just running factory bikes. Also, whats Shakey gonna do?

Spot on, did you read that he offered Colin Wright outside at a recent BSB round? My money would be safe on the big guy fae the North East.

It was at Oulton, when Shakey went under Karl Harris at Shell Oils made contact and consigned him to the straw bales. The TV coverage caught the tail end of it after Rob Mac stormed into the GSE garage. I agree - I'd back the man in the blue corner over the cockney loudmouth in the red corner any day.

I think Yamaha wants to win and has offered big bucks to GSE...

Probably enough to keep Byrne as well as a rider.

And NorthWest will keep entering Ducatis next year, isn't it?

GSE’s decision to move to Yamaha was fiscally motivated.
Due to the world financial situation and the spiralling cost of metals due to increased demand from China and India, Colin Wright admitted that the cost of aluminium was pricing Ducati out of the market due to the raw material cost of having to produce 1600cc pistons so they could have it all their own way again and cakewalk next season in both BSB and SBK
