British Superbikes back on ITV
The 2009 British Superbike Championship (BSB), widely regarded as the Worlds leading domestic motorcycle racing series will be screened extensively across the ITV network as part of a new contract announced today by BSB commercial rights holder MotorSport Vision.
The deal will see one-hour programmes from each of the twelve BSB events shown first on ITV 4 on Saturday afternoons and then repeated midweek on the main ITV 1 terrestrial station. Each programme will have further weekend repeats on ITV 4 and on Men and Motors, as well as being available free to view on the ITV Player on itv.com.
The BSB shows, produced by ITV Sport will feature the best highlights action from the previous weekends Superbike races, together with grid walks, post race interviews, behind the scenes features and exclusive competitions. The programmes will be presented by nine times BSB race winner James Haydon.
Jonathan Palmer, CEO of MotorSport Vision, said: "This is great news for the fans and importantly the BSB sponsors and teams and reflects British Superbikes position against other motorsport series. This new ITV deal ensures that BSB remains on a free to air network, accessible to the largest possible audience."
Nick Moody, Editor of many of ITV's top sports broadcasts including BSB, said: "It great to have the highly popular British Superbike Championship back on ITV. The Series provides compelling sports drama, high quality racing with plenty of thrills and a cast of great personalities that the fans can can connect with. We are really looking forward to giving our viewers the best action and insight from each event."
The British Superbike Championship is set for another fiercely competitive season with a buoyant 30 strong starting grid, featuring leading British and International riders aboard machines produced by five of the world's leading manufacturers, starting at Brands Hatch on Easter Monday April 13th.
