This mandatory break in testing must be unhelpful for those changing teams. Particularly Dovi on the Ducati. He got in, how many laps was it, 3?, and now he has to wait until February.

Rossi moving to Yamaha shouldn't have so much of a problem as he has extensive experience on the Yamaha. And, of course, he's Rossi.

Newboys such as Marquez must be regretting not being able to get more miles on the bike.

I know the money-saving reasons for the testing ban over the next few months, but it does appear to get in the way of rider preparation.

I thought the winter ban was more because it snows in a lot of the world during the winter, and gets cold enough to have ice on the tracks.. Not really sure what point you are trying to make here. Dovisioso was having health issues, as was Ben Spies. A lot of the testing got rained out. Either way you just have to wait til next year. It's not like watching or following testing provides much entertainment value anyways. Why waste money testing if there is no income to the championship?

I presumed that the ban on testing was a cost cutting measure.

The point I'm trying to make is that a long testing ban now advantages those who are staying with the same team and more or less the same bike as they have less of a learning curve.

It also advantages teams whose bike is already fairly sorted. I.e. Honda and Yamaha at the moment. Ducati and any new entrants in future years have less opportunity to close the gap.

Testing is free, now, subject to a few rules:
<ul>[]No testing is permitted by contracted riders between 01 December and 31 January.
<ul>[]Starting from 14 days before the first event of the season, testing at a Grand Prix circuit included in the calendar is not permitted before the event at that circuit has taken place. Except that every team may designate and inform Race Direction of 3 Grand Prix circuits at which they may test.
You can test as much as you like, whenever you like, but not wherever you like. And you only have a limited number (120) of tyres from your IRTA allocation to test with. You are, however, free to buy your own tyres and test as many as you want, if Bridgestone will make them available.

I thought the test ban was to give the teams back at the factory a good chance to have a break/holiday.  I assume that during the year there are no holidays allowed for the engineers etc as there is a constant march forward in development.

That's what I thought too, give'em a proper rest.

Only half the world bro. I can't even maintain a toilet candy block here, it melt and forms a blue lava flow down the bowl, when you have a piss your .... is all sweaty and slimy.

They could test here, Puig (as a sweaty slimy ....) would be in his natural element.

Lorenzo welcomes the break for testing, because he could get the chance to see psychologist to sort his head after not being able to win the title on merit. Being labeled as an unworthy champion by most of the fans, JLo is having a huge depression.

Thanks god, there is a testing break.
