Bradley Smith has signed to join the Aspar Team to replace Talmacsi for 2009 in what would probably be his best chance to win the 125 title.

The Polaris World team may not even be on next year grid so it's a wise move.

yeah i read this the other day. it's excellent news for brad! scott redding will be on the ajo team next year also. good news for the brits you guys will have a world champion soon enough i think!

i think thats brilliant news considering he turned them down the end of last season.

He also has the option to ride for them in 250s the year after. shame polaris wont have a team next year. lets hope they all can find work in the paddock

go brad

It is very good news for Brad, reading his blog he thinks he will have a very good season with probably the best tam in the 125's. I do think also that he will get a run for his money from Scott Redding next season, who will also be on works machinary. As you say, a good season next year and the option to move to 250's the year after is fantastic for Brad. Hopefully a British champ out of the two next year.

Smith on Aspar, championship proven team/bike. Redding on Ajo, championship proven team/bike as well. Both great guys. Smith just needs to figure out his crashing problem and he can finally get that race win and possible championship. I think Bradl will be a tough competitor next year as well as Corsi if he can get his act together. I will be happy to see Talmacsi move on as he has been sandbagging the class.

How do you mean?

He's at the age limit or close to it I believe. Most guys move to 250 after winning the title, as it seems customary to do so. I know there is no rule that you have to move, but as I said it seems tradition as of late to move after a title. The last time there was a repeat 125cc champion was Aoki in 95' & '96. Maybe Talmacsi didn't have a good ride lined up in 250s? I doubt as Faubel is riding on the same team as Bautista. Perhaps Aspar had his 250 ride promised to Faubel. I'm not sure of his reasons for staying another season in 125, but in my opinion he should have moved up given the chance. On top of it all, it made him look bad this year losing the title to a guy who was 17th in the championship the year before. I don't dislike Talmacsi, just an observation.

He didn't get the offer(s) he was expecting after the championship season and made the decision to stay. I think its worked out OK for him. He didn't win the championship again but his talents and strengths were certainly appreciated by Aspar.
