Gosh dang. I'm bitten by lust for something that I've always tend to shy away from in most forms of two and four wheeled icons even though a little devil sits on my shoulder, prodding me to want to have an interest or even give a damn. Examples are 1964 Lowrider Impalas (with hydros) mid to late 1970's Pontiac Trans-Ams (Smokey and the Bandit), Harley Davidson choppers etc.. in another words style over function. I want to like them, but I could never see myself owning something that I would be so embarrased to even mention that I own or liked one.
Now I've always loved the looks of the old Triumph Bonnevilles. Especially with the likes of McQueen riding his Bonnie over fences or Dylan cruising in the hills of New York state, I've always though of that every time I see an old Triumph on the road. Never see owning one (.... for Brakes, oil leaks, and bad electrics). Than Triumph came back, than about ten years after its resurgence they brought the Bonnie back. It didn't quite do it for me. Had the brakes, style, and reliability just didn't touch my soul...
Well a few weeks ago on the way to work at a stop light pulled up a Bonneville Scrambler and I went hard. I'm no man of chrome, but the sparkle of the exhaust and wheels just opened my eyes. The white piping on the seat to the kneepads on the tank, gators on the forks and some what of knobby tires. I was in love!!!
The bike would be .... on the dirt, and get its ... handed to it by a ten yearold Ninja EX-500! I wouldn't care, I could see myself ridding it with an ear to ear grin!
Now guess what I found for sale..
2007 Triumph Scrambler - $5800 (Fort Collins)

Now, do I listen to the little devil on my shoulder now?
