Yep, he has been here for a few days and was saying that he was looking forward to it as he has specifically asked for more test in Australia (joking it allowed him more time at home in the off season). When I was speaking with him (just to name drop
) he was very pleased to be home and was looking forward to the hot/dry weather for the test as to that stage 7 of the 8 test days utilised in Europe had been wet, something where he explained that whilst useful it was far from ideal.
In media it has been reported that he broke Alex Criville's outright bike lap record as he ran a 1.29.40 compared to Criville's lap of 1:30+ so if correct (and some reports are from the team) it gives a positive impression of where the bikes of today are compared to yesteryear, and also hopefully augurs well for the 2011 season.
The same reports did indicate that Haslam was no closer than 1 second a lap behind Corser and was struggling heavily with the bike in terms of set-up etc, but Eastern Creek does that and so they were not that concerned (as it is not on the calendar)
Good little video though
