It's that time of year again. The Catalunya tests are upon us, which has led me to thinking, who will walk (or drive) away with a big, shiny new beemer this year. Will it be the Doctor? Maybe not. Since Valencia last year, Gibernau, Nakano, Checa, Pedrosa, Caparossi andHopper have all put in fast times at various tracks. Then theres Rossi's biggest threat Melandri, and Hayden, who put in a more than his fair share of fast laps in the 2005 season.

I gotta say in the conditions, I'm thinking Gresini will do a back to back and Melandri scores himself a new car.

i'll say Sete might get it again ...

... at least he kicked Vales arse IN SOMETHING last year...

Don't forget how many poles he got last year.
I hope Sete does well on his new Duke

with regards to times and everything so far Sete is doing heaps well ... he just starts to fault when it comes to races and PRESSURE and most of all rossi....

as far as im concerned hes always done pretty well with setting and keeping up with the pace ... so the BMW award is within his grasp on his duke as far as i know

I'm hoping with a new bike and a new team comes new confidence. I dunno, I just hope old Sete can toughen up this year so he can take a few wins. We need another Qatar incident. That's gotta be the only time he had the edge on Rossi. Mind you, before that, they were mates (like Rossi and Melandri) so mind games weren't as powerful. After that, Rossi started his toying with Gibbers, and it worked pretty well I guess.... poor ....... hasn't won a race since.

1. Hayden
2. Marco
3. Rossi

Although the last 2 dont count lol but yea, Nicky for me!

I don't know about Nicky, yeah he's fast but his Repsol guys left the last test unsatisifed. They've got a lot of work cut out for them just making up for lost time. Hayden might do well to have a stab at the award, but his bike is in desperate need of fine tununing and they're running out of time. He should concentrate on getting his bike ready and getting back on schedule, so he can win races during the season, when the points count.

Just for the craic

I'll go for

1. Stoner
2. Danni P
3. Rossi

And Sete to blow up the Ducati

I think on the face of current situation, It'll be a Yamaha or a Ducati. If it's a yamaha then you know who, and if it's a Ducati then ther's two to choose from.

The Yamaha and Ducati factories are definitely on a healthier development curve whereas Honda are in the same boat as they've been in since Rossi left, the 'We haven't a clue where we're going' boat to be exact. The 2006 bike has hit the wall in terms of stability and feel, which affects rider confidence, which affects laptimes. C'mon, they've got Tady Okada in to help, great rider but not a RCV development specialist, that was Vale's gig. I think the top brass are panicking a bit.

Rossi or Gibernau/Capirossi? Should be intersting, the Ducati/Bridgestone thing is on a roll going by end of 2005 and recent tests IMO. It just depends how much Rossi was holding back so far this year, rumour has it he won't even attend the entire duration of the Catalunya test. More mind games? I'm intrigued.

Depending on what bike Melandri is riding I think he will win the car. If he's on an '05 RCV then I think he'll get the fastest time. If HRC want to put him on an '06 to help aid in developing the bike then I put my money on Capirossi.

Hayden has too much on his plate to worry about a BMW. He's practically developing the 2006 model RCV by himself. Him and his team will have enough to do making the bike competitive by Jerez without trying to set the world on fire.

Poor Nicky, has to pick up the pices from ....... Biaggi's waste of time year at the helm. IMO even though they're not on factory bikes Melandri and Tamada should pick up some of the slack until they get the bike sorted. They're the only other riders who have any experience on the RCV. Sorting out the bike should be Honda's main priority. Stoner, Elias and Pedrosa can't do it. They need all their "Veterans" working their ..... off, because unless the bike is up to it, it dosen't matter whether they're twice as good as Rossi. They won't be able to take it to him. It'd be really bad for the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer to slip from having the best bike on the grid to having the 3rd best. They haven't got the innovation of Ducati or the Burgess-ness of Yamaha. If they can't keep up, Pons might come back with a couple of M1s or GP07s.
But we are talking about Honda. These guys don't screw around. They'll be ready for Jerez. Rossi or not, they're still a force to be reckoned with.
