Yamaha Factory Racing Team To Run In Special Blue Livery In Jerez

Yamaha’s Factory MotoGP Team will take part in the Official MotoGP Test in Jerez this weekend sporting a special blue Yamaha livery.

The livery reflects the familiar blue colours used in other Yamaha racing disciplines and also makes a direct connection with the blue colours and the famous Yamaha speedblock stripe used on the high-performance Yamaha R1 and R6 machines throughout the world.

The one-off livery will be used by Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards over the three days of the test, including during the traditional televised timed ‘qualifying’ session on Sunday.

David Brivio:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>“We’ve chosen this important pre-season event to run in full Yamaha livery and it’s a nice chance to thank everyone in the company who has worked so hard over the winter. This could be the only opportunity to see Yamaha MotoGP bikes in this special blue livery as the design and colour will change again for the first MotoGP race in Qatar. I hope our fans and the all Yamaha network will appreciate and enjoy this special event!”

Maybe it will be me eating crowpie frosty!

That is my second favorite color with the yellow #46.

The one that is burned in my brain, and the best was from the 125/250 days with Aprilia.

I'm getting pretty fed up of yamaha Pissing about with all these "special colour schemes". To be honest its just a bike and i'm not too bothered what colour they have it.

Hmm...it still doesn't give much insight into what kinds of sponsorship they'll be running this season. They could very well change to a factory Yamaha sponsored bike, just without a "special blue livery".

If I were the guy interviewing Brivio, I'd be very tempted to just say "Come on and tell us already!! I know you know who the sponsor is going to be! Quit messing around!" Its almost like he's enjoying the game, telling us that its going to change, but not into what! Grrr...I wanna know.

You have to imagine its a done deal by now. I can't see them still being in go/no-go negotiations this close to the start of the season.

Hmmmm sounds like a nod to the Sonauto Yamaha paintjobs.... no bad thing.

If they had sponsorship wouldn't they have "launched" by now? I thought big-name sponsors liked to throw big PR fiestas at the beginning of the year to raise awreness and anticipation for the season. Maybe they really do have a title sponsor lined up and the only thing standing in the way of an official announcement is some sort of red tape.

NOW THATS a good looking bike!...looks like my R1!

any more angles of that bike??

It look alright but its pretty standard isn't it. I may as well look at an R1 in my local dealer. In my opinion the Gresini honda is better looking, and certainly more interesting than the yamahas use of blue and white.

Yeh its alright, i guess its only for this last test anyway... Heaps better than the gresini hondas but

This angle of the bike looks better than the one in the other thread which I said I didn't like it. My favourite is the yellow livery, then this blue version.

The 2005 blue livery was the best, followed by the Valencia special. This weekends paintjob is so boring it barely belongs on a race bike.

Nah its nothing like that. I think i got pretty excited about seeing the new Yamaha sponsor and when they came out with a factory paint job that i don't really care for it just pissed me off a bit.

Yamaha did admit once that they needed Cigarettes’ Sponsorship at least a couple of years since they got Rossi (so now it means 3 years; ’04 and ’05 Gauloises, ’06 Camel) to be able to Sponsor themselves… also Rossi does not like Cigarettes’ Sponsorship. Concluding, maybe they are just going to Sponsor themselves and everything said around it is pure gossip!

I thought the idea of running in yamaha colours was one that was planned for 2005 because it was yamahas 50th anniversary. They kind of managed it, with a minimalistic sponsorship and a couple of special paint jobs.

It would seem that too many people are too sure of this Fiat deal now, so i reckon its on.
