Well if Lorenzo wins Estoril he only needs 15 points to take it out numerically.

But add to that that he did so against 3 of the best riders the planet has seen and it could be seen as making it even more of a win.

During the attempts to keep up with Lorenzo all 3 others have fallen, only Stoner was not injured greatly in doing so.

Can it be seen as the best WC win of all time?

This should be good.

Sigh. Berry, please try harder - you're not even filling your post with the requisite amounts of emoticons any more. What's up? - have the little yellow faces in your head stopped talking to you today?

What's wrong with talking dogs in fireman's hats? It took a particularly unique strain of Owsley acid in the water supply at Hannah Barbera's to conceive of that. Anyhow, think about it Berry, it's no less ridiculous than shutting the throttle on a Ducati 848........................................................................................................................

'S'

....................................................................................................................................................................on a public road when slowing for a corner and routinely locking up the back wheel and inexplicably simultaneously spinning the rear wheel around the bend in the process. I should have known not to listen to you Berry.....and because I did, I am now impatiently prodding away at my Mac Book keyboard with a stick attached to my head.

But you always reply don't you, just as you will to this, because being Berry, like that illusive apex that you claim to hit sideways everytime, that supposed clever 'BM spin' yet in reality you are always destined to end up way wide of the mark. Which is why we like pushing your buttons you buffoon.

On the subject of addictions....only five emoticons Berry this time. Are you yourself finally in the process being slowly weaned away from your dependency through something like The 12 Steps Programme? Can I help?

Yes I think I probably can. Here's a poem I wrote only last week entitled 'Berry Berry' to be recited out loud in the style of Rik from the Young Ones:

Berry-Berry: by Arrabbiata1. (awl mi own werk)

Why see red Berry?

Think what you’ve said Berry!

the only skids that come to pass

are those delivered from your ...

and who the hell is Barry Machine?

is he straight or is he a queen?

what does all your posting mean?

....perhaps you're really Ralph Sheheen

Don't be blue Berry,

We think of you Berry

Sat in the corner all alone,

of a New South Wales Nursing home

And yes I really have to ask,

those random comments that you pass,

are the threads you spin deliberate farce?

or just the 'eight ball' up your arse

Those bales are straw berry,

Guess what they’re for Berry,

Cause if you ride like you prescribe

They’re there to save your Aussie hide

The weathers great - please look outside,

you really should go take a ride,

why not even learn to slide?

it'd be much better if you really tried

You are my elder Berry

..are you a welder Berry?

were all those fabricated frames

more ‘fabricated’ Berry claims

and when you claim to back it in

we all know what you’re lacking in

the basic understanding

that it doesn’t mean a rear wheel spin!

Don't be so black Berry

just change your tack Berry,

make a friend or shag the wife,

just don't pretend you have a life

And do you really feel so great?

alone astride your 848...............

(S)

pretending that you're braking late,

but only when you ..........

Do you use a rasp Berry?

Is that in your grasp Berry?

…are you really an engineer,

And do you ever rear wheel steer?

Do you have Beriberi?

Who plucked your cherry Berry?

cause when you say you back it in,

you're really using vaseline

You really are beyond all hope

Knocking me for smoking dope

A sad and lonely misanthrope

Go spin upon your gyroscope

I take it you think Stoners 07 season was more dominant.

<
Well the bike was.

I agree with Pig. Stoner couldnt beat hayden for half the season. Rossi's shoulder and broken leg. And pedders hard drive malfunction. But I guess on paper he will be.

Just wondering, have there always been the same number of gp's? Obviously that has to be taken into consideration if so.

I think it changed from 17-18 in the recent years..maybe at the start of the 800s? I remember Rossi's 2003 record before it was broken was out of 17 gps

If Lorenzo wins the next race he'll have 358 points in 17 races. Rossi had 367 points out of 17 races in 2005 and 357 points out of 16 races in 2003. Doohan had 340 points out of 15 races in 1997 and 317 points out of 14 races in 1994.

2003-2007 best seasons ever hands down end of thread.

why?

@BM : i think its impossible to compare different championships . but at the same time everybody needs to agree that lorenzo ruled motorcycle racing this year and i think next year will maybe be the most important in lorenzos life. because if he still perfoms as strong and gives rossi who he successfully pushed out of yamaha (think about that!) a run for his money it'll be a giant step towards racing immortality.there aren't many multiple word champs and there are even less people who beat rossi

lorenzo beat stoner on a ducati, pedrosa on a honda and a certain valentino rossi in his own garage and in the mean time dominated the season like we've only known it from doohan/rossi in their best years and hardly made ANY mistakes (it took him a few meters to pull to the left with that broken engine, but thats about it)

no matter how you want to evaluate that ,that ticks all the boxes for me,one of the greatest seasons by a racer ever for sure

So there it is Barryboy. The answer is no.

you are an ...... comfirmed. again.

Yes i think if by best we mean most successful or most dominant then it is just a matter of seeing what percentage of the total points available were achieved, or by what percentage the next rider was beaten. Either way i suspect Lorenzo's title wont be the best. In terms of entertainment, i think you'd struggle to find a single person who thinks its up there simply because it was dominated so much by one man. I'm a Lorenzo fan and i think there have been better seasons, last year for staters.

The 'pushed Rossi out of Yamaha' comment can be seen both ways depending which way you lean. It could equally be said that Rossi left Yamaha because he didnt like Lorenzo and didnt want to work with him. Yes, you could counter-argue that Rossi didnt like Lorenzo because he was getting beaten. But lets not forget, Rossi branded Lorenzo arrogant before their first season together had barley got going, so he obviously didnt like him even at that stage.

I would also like to think that had Rossi not been injured at Mugello and likewise Pedrosa not been injured at motegi, this season certainly wouldnt have panned out the way it did. How it would have ended is only open to speculation.

I'd also ask that we wait a while before we start talking of racing immortality.

All depends on your point of view. If you want to compare average points per race, Doohan had the most dominant year under the current points system, but in my opinion, did not have the overall competition that exists today. If you look at the level of competition Lorenzo beat to win the title, it ranks right up there. There will be 4 MotoGp champions starting next years first race, has that ever happened before. Its no coincidence that titles are a little harder for Rossi to come by today, than when Gravelplow, Barros, and Biaggi were his main competition, plus the bikes are much closer in performance than era's past, just this season, 3 different manufacturers have dominated 3 different segments of the season. If Jorge caps off the season with a win and a podium, it will rank right up with best seasons ever

sure go ahead and give it to lorenzo its a fact I'll forget about in a week, who cares, this season has been a mess, plagued with injuries a poor enconomy with lack luster development. Lorenzo can have most points scored, whoopie. So as the thread states, for the rider it could be the best season. As a fan, I'd have to say 2006, that season was stellar to watch. Constant point lead battling, several race winners and a great grand finale! What else do you want?

I don't know if this is the most dominant season of all time, but I do know its the most revealing. The most enlightening and exposing fact about this season is that Lorenzo beat Rossi on his own bike.

broken leg and subsequent races missed by rossi because of that your quite right.

As much as it may sound like i'm taking away what lorenzo has achieved, (which I'm not he has been the best this year and a deserving champion), I'd have to agree and say Rossi at 100% > Lorenzo at 100%
