He quite clearly isn't a 'crap rider' and if it wasn't for your obvious disdain for anything American then you'd know this from his history in AMA. Add to that his WSBk title in his maiden year coupled with some great rides in GP - particularly Assen and Valencia last year. He's clearly not a 'crap rider' is he? Your prejudice betrays your ignorance of the sport.

You can argue that Ben does not belong on a factory M1 based upon his cumulative results in GP and particularly in view of his performance this year, I'm sure many will agree with you - if things don't improve then include myself. Crap rider though? - please elucidate

Thanks Arrabbi you are a true UK ambassador to this forum. I would bet this MigsDoucheBag is not even native to the UK.

I don't think Ben is "crap". I believe one has to understand that Lorenzo is "the" in-form rider at this point. He is riding well. The bike obviously suits his style and I get the feeling Yamaha are bending over backwards to provide him with the machinery that will help JL win the championship. Ben is having a bad season so far. He has shown last year that he is capable of winning and riding well. But he needed to take a big step forward this season, not (seemingly) a big step back.

It may seem harsh to compare Ben to Jorge. But if you are getting thrashed every race by your team-mate, some serious questions must be asked. If he is good enough to ride for Yamaha, then he should be good enough to challenge his team-mate on most occasions. But he obviously isn't even remotely getting near Jorge. I like Ben - would love to see him stay on. Hell, we need some non-Spanish riders challenging. When Stoner leaves at the end of this year, we are gonna hear that Spanish national anthem EVERY GOD-DAMN RACE!

Sad but true...................
<

The Spanish anthem monopoly is all Stoner's fault. He's letting everybody down with no consideration.

Ben Spies? Ask Lin jarvis, what priority and privilege clauses Lorenzo is imposing as #1 rider.

Wont' tell? Pity.

Dovi and Cal must be nuts, wanting to take Ben's seat. Tech3 is a better Yamaha place than #2 factory rider, right now.

Spies is the crap rider on a winning bike.

Hayden is just making up the numbers.

Rossi should stay on the duke and bring along Redding.

Ducati are in trouble and if rossi goes i would be surprised if they stayed in gps much longer as a factory effort. They could just supply crt engines and let others develop a winning chassis.

Because Rossi has improved the bike so much with his magical incantations feedback?

Redding has done .... all so far.

^ BS...

imo the team around Ben is the reason he's not putn in the results..i dont think they know what theyre doing

Which goes against what he has said in his own (very candid) interviews. He has had two equipment failures, a brain fade, a mistake and now, two bad days riding.

Only one of his team are ex WSBK - and not AMA. Houseworth has been with him Since 2002.

The bulk of his crew are GP specialists, either from Tech3 or professional mechs from the GP pool. They have been with him since 2011 - remember his win last year? They know what they are doing. You think someone as cut-throat as Lin Jarvis would put up with slackers in the squad? Yamaha want to win - if one team-member is not getting to grips with the bike because of the team, there are a whole bunch of experienced mechanics and engineers just champing at the bit...

[font=verdana, arial]
Spies' crew will also include Gregory Wood, mechanic from his 2010 Tech3 Yamaha Team, Jurij Pellegrini, mechanic from his 2009 Yamaha World Superbike Team and YMR mechanic Mattia Bonera.

[font=verdana, arial]
Data Engineer Erkki Siukola and Mechanic Olivier Boutron complete the Team and will start with Yamaha in January 2011.

You have always been an American hater! I have seen you crap post from crash to here over the years. Its always the same hate you have to offer. Which would sell more Ducati's? Cal & Scott or Nicky & Ben??

I ride a ducati,, if fact my current monster s4 is my third duke.....lets start there.

Do you own a duke? If not will you buy one if Ben moves to ducati, or did you buy one when nicky moved to ducati?

if gps are just about selling bikes then the marketing departments should select the riders for their sales figures alone and their riding ability does not matter

Did you buy a yamaha when ben moved to gps?

Ducati want to win and sell bikes, and riding at back of grid or going bacward against the competitor bikes isnt goimg to do either.

And I dont hate American riders just the overratted, talked up ones, like Ben Spies. ....he may sell bikes but that is not why he was brought into the factory yamaha squad.

I am actually a Brit, but an honorary American

My English summer dream home away from the pesky clear sky and sunshine awaits my arrival.

Not Stockholm syndrome, more like the Florence Nightingale effect.

Aside becoming the youngest winner of a motorcycle grand prix. Personally I'd be quite chuffed with that.

I would too - perhaps I was over harsh - but there's a boat load of guys in his class who've done much much more.

Considering him for a satellite ride would IMHO be premature.

I think Scott is ready for the step up. The 600 is too small for him, and he is a regular front runner. Scott has done his time and is young enough to have a long career ahead of him.

Go for it Scott!

Think this season, Scotty too hotty has got on a half decent bike, with a chassis that he really likes. The guy just ain't really cut out for the series. Whilst he can run at the front, I get the feeling his size ( think he is 6' 1" or something like that ) really hampers him. Not only because of the extra weight he has to carry around a track, but also how it affects tyre degredation over the course of a race. Big bikes required for this kid

World domination beckons.......

Competing against the usual midgets - his size will continue to be an issue.

I think one advantage he has over the likes of Marquez that was illustrated in the Siverstone race is his sheer physical ability to command and chuck the bike around. His size certainly increases his leverage which bodes well for a future move to a bigger bike be that Moto GP or a superbike.

18 months later and zillions spent new frames new everything the legend has asked for and its no better than last year,i now doubt those so called god like devlopment skills

What has Rossi got to do with Redding!?

Different manufacturers and different classes,

Please explain the first part of your post as I find it confusing.

Thanks.

Thanks.

It referred to Mig's assertion that Hayden should be ousted from Ducati (to make room for Redding)

while Rossi's position there should be unquestioned. Happy to clear that up.

Not a bad theory considering the circumstances. Ben was showing threatening form in the off season tests and also was improving every year in the series. Now he can't catch a break. Very rare form for Spies and Co. Unheard of since he has been riding bikes.

Yamaha do want to win the constructors title though and I am pretty sure they want both their bikes running at the front. Another oddity is Jarvis was quick to criticize Ben last year but hasn't said much of anything this year, even when he has plenty more ammunition to go on. But what factory team sends their rider out in a race with a cracked frame?

Ben has always done well at Assen. This race will define and decide his future IMO.
