Then recall Phil Read, possibly the most loathed rider in this Championships history and depised by his counterparts and race fans in equal measure.

I came 'round racing in '79. By then Read was just one of those "legendary" guys. Guess I missed the fun. Just curious... why?

"Hate" is just a fun word to use for affect, but lets not pretend some riders are not disliked while others are worshipped. To say like Jack88 that peeps who dislike a rider, or describe it as "hating" must mean this sport isnt for them is to luve in a fantasy world (well, he is "Jack"). We have people all around us, in life and the virtual one, that we like and dislike. Its just normal human behavior. So please gentz, get off ur highhorses.

I think Bluegreen nailed it when he said the big diff is the advent of the Net. We can express a bit more, and its unique as it tends to be more extreme. Also, in this new era, we get way more coming across from the riders and paddock. No longer do i have to wait for a month to get a mag to give me just the general news regarding the sport. Now, instantly we learn that VR has tweeted some ........, or find out what Nicky's new GF looks like, or Spies latest team .... up, or some .... from HRC who gets to tweet .... in the name of the company taking a dig at VR, or a mic in Pedros face so he can tell us how he blames Sic even tho he was the one clipping his back tire (oh wait...); and add to that, every joe can now express reaction. So guess what, now we have more to formulate an opinion. And that opinion will obviously for and against.

Bluegreen, agree with most, except KS is an ambassador for the sport, was while active, and now still. I think that separates him into another level regardless of the similarities u spoke about. Why peeps like him more than CS. I dont know about Casey being disliked much before, but certainly the sport in general after 07 made him understandably biter.

well, firstly my name is not jack, second you have a big mouth, like all people who pretend to know everything

do yourself a favor and keep repeating "i know nothing about racing" and "i talk too much"

also i thought you didnt care about my posts, so say "i must do what i say" too

oh, and to actually reply, yes if you ride bikes, to your limits in trackdays or club racing or whatever, yes you cant hate another rider. worldclass or not, they are motorcyclists like us and vulnerable as proved last year again. the sport has become a lot popular that doesnt mean everyone understands what the boys are really doing.
