According to American journo Dennis Noyes Bayliss wants to retire at the end of the season, Ducati are trying to convince the veteran champion to stay one more year and lead the development of the new 1200cc Ducati.

Don't cry too much Richo, it was gonna happen some day.

The rumors I've read are he wants to retire unless Colin Edwards returns to WSB. I haven't read the latest Noyes column, though. I really need to start reading his stuff more frequently, it's too bad such a great writer writes for such a ...... website/network.

I read it in Motociclismo, not on the internet.

He writes the SBK articles and is the TV commentator in the Spanish TV channel that broadcasts WSBK.

Other things he mentioned...

Corser could be out of Suzuki.
Ducati wanted Barros.
Edwards to return to WSBK with Yamaha.
Ducati corse could leave AMA and set a 2nd team in WSBK (with Hodgson and Xaus).

I would of thought that he'd rather retire WHEN Edwards and /or Biaggi moved to SBK, not the other way around.

it would be good to see bayliss stick it out and wait for edwards to return to WSBK .... their both brilliant racers and the battles between them were sooooo good to watch ...

I didn't know he wrote for the Spanish press. He writes for Speed TV online from time to time. My mistake.

I did hear this mentioned at the last round at BH, at 37 its never too old, especially if his old sparring partner goes back to the series, should provide some good fistcuffs on the track.

Chilli retires at the end of this season at the ripe old age of 42.

What a legend!!!!

Why would you think that? These riders thrive on beating other riders especially ones coming from a higher level (motogp). Any rider would love to retire knowing that he beat the best in his class and Bayliss beating Edwards and Biaggi would be a great way to go. Especially since he stepped right into WSBK and made the all conquering Corser his ......

I'm expecting Troy to retire at the end of the season and then in my view who ever comes into WSBK will not be able to challenge the best rider never to win the WSBK title who has raced in the class.
