I thought he was going to take one of the Ten Kate spots, which sucks becuase Ten Kate are up to their ears in talent in Superbike AND Supersport. They're by far the best team in the championship. They don't need some dead wood GP reject that Honda feels too sorry for to boot out of the international scene anyway.
I don't mind Barros, but he's just past his use by date. The only person he's fooling is himself.

When are HRC going to take WSBK seriously? Will they front their own team or will they just give Ten Kate proper factory support?

probably not for a while. remember that all the japanese manufacturers are supposed to be snubbing wsbk. only under the counter help for now.

He'll fare better than Abe but that isn't saying much.

TBH - I've never really rated Barros, he's just been a middle pack rider with the occassional bouts of really good riding/results.

I think he will last a season or two then fade away somewhere..........

The best way to keep Barros in the sport is if he goes into team managment like Gresini or Pons. You can never be too old for that. But with all this sponsorship crap, that's highly unlikely.

Barros has a ride!:

Grand Prix Star Alex Barros Joins Team Klaffi Honda

Klaus Klaffenböck’s latest sensational deal is the engagement of Alex Barros for his Team Klaffi Honda. After 15 years in the top class of motorcycle racing Alex Barros is easily one of the most successful and experienced riders in MotoGP.

During the last two years the Brazilian was a Honda rider in MotoGP. In 2004 Alex finished 4th. 2005 he joined Team Camel Honda. He was winner of one race and 8th in the standings at the end of the season.

Team Manager Klaus Klaffenböck: "Alex was always on the top of my wish list for 2006. He has a lot of experience and aggressiveness to cheer up his competitors in World’s Superbike Championship. The deal is nearly done and I’m sure we will close it soon.

By the way: With the engagement of Alex we are just ahead. The MotoGP looses a lot of its attractiveness. Compared to this the Superbike World Championship becomes more and more interesting and our Team is a part of it! Other climbers from MotoGP are Troy Bayliss, Roberto Rolfo, Fonsi Nieto, Norik Abe, Franco Battaini, Rubens Xaus and probably Max Biaggi."

Max Neukirchner will bet he team mate of Alex Barros. In 2004 Max finished the Supersport Championship as Rookie of the Year. In 2005 he made an impressive debut in World’s Superbike Championship with a podium at Phillip Island and position 12 in the standings.

End of February the Championship 2006 starts at Doha/Qatar. First test rides for Alex Barros and Max Neukirchner are scheduled in January.

Barros, aggresive?........................I must have missed that moment!!

So when are they renaming WSB to motoGP-Rejects
<

(except Troy - respect to him, I dont think gp's suited his riding skills...)

huh...I didn't know Fonsi Nieto wasn't going to race MotoGp...that's a shame..

Fonsi left for WSB last season and rode for the SS Caracchi Ducati team, which Roby Rolfo will ride for in 2006, but was dropped mid season for poor results. Nieto will ride a PSG-1 tuned Kawasaki ZX-10RR for 2006 but apparently will be on a "separate team" from Walker and Laconi.

Actually Nieto was dropped by Caracchi because Nieto wanted some mods his teammate had on his bike, He didn't get any so his sponsor stopped paying to Caracchi, then Caracchi inmediatly dumped him and got someone else. Nieto went to Kawasaki.

Nieto has never been in MotoGP, only 250cc.

Very interesting Teo, I never heard that side of the story over here. All I got was a release from Caracchi that said he was let go for poor results.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (teomolca @ Jan 6 2006, 05:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>It's (almost) always about the money !
aint that the truth!!!

I don't understand that at all. From what I heard HRC were very happy with Max's results in 2005, they even let him test the RC211V with Dovi and Luthi. And now they let him go so they can have Barros? I'm baffled.

So Barros's problem is sorted, but he's created another one. Now Max hasn't got a ride and it's getting really late in the silly season. WSBK will start soon.
