2 seconds faster than Sykes and only 2/10ths of Bayliss's fastest time.

When was the last time you heard Biagii praise another rider?

“I am very impressed by Spies’ time, because he has never tested here before,” Biaggi said.

I'd like to know how hard he was pushing the bike.

+1

I've searched and can't find anything.

Source?

Couple small articles on superbikeplanet right now.

Nothing too detailed though. Looks like he layed it down though. I am guessing he wasn't even pushing it too. WSBK is going to be pissed if he turns it into a AMA Superbike clinic.

Can't wait to see the battles for the '09 championship. Hopefully we'll have more consistent coverage of the '09 championship here in the U.S.

Testing continues tomorrow AFAIK.

Hmm....Very interesting stuff here.

Now, of course I am a Ben Spies fan, now that he's onthe world scene...so, i am happy to see hime coming to grips with a new bike/tires/suspension/team/track so quickly.

I really am looking forward to him shutting up all of the Nay-Sayers that think the AMASBK series is a joke with a bunch of mediocre riders (Mladin, duHamel, Neil Hodgson, Eric Bostrom, etc.)

Not sure if it will be the same as this year, check out worldsbk.com You have to wait a day or two for the race, superpoles are some time live, but it is free of all commercials.

I always had a feeling that Spies would do well on another bike and this test seems like good confirmation of that. Some of you know that I am not a big supporter of Spies going to MotoGP because of his large frame and 800cc bike etc etc, and I still feel that his success would be limited. With that said however, I do see great things for him in WSBK, the boy can flat out ride and I look foward to the 2009 season of WSBK.

Wow. I hope all of you "He's only fast because he's on the Yosh Suzuki/because he's in the AMA" will read this and shut up for a bit.

I can't WAIT for the 2009 SBK season. The field is DEEP.

Kiyo found his groove and looked menacing at times this season. He'll be a contender.

Haga is a beast, and now he's going to be on the "best" bike. Watch out.

The Aprillia has gone out and right off the bat been third. Wow. Two former MotoGP aces will be piloting it in 2009.

Ben Spies is 2/10ths off Bayliss' best race time for the weekend on his FIRST TIME on the bike and FIRST TIME on the track? Are you serious? I like what Sackwack said about it becoming an AMA Superbike clinic. I think Spies may just show the world what he's capable of and make Suzuki seriously regret snubbing him.

I'm already starting to feel bad for Tom Sykes.

two aces? i don't think i would apply the "ace" term to nakano. he'll be an also ran in wsbk just like he was in motogp.

He's been up at the sharp end a few times in his MotoGP career. He rode the wheels off the Kawi in the 990 days, frequently qualifying on the front row, as well as finishing a MotoGP career best of 2nd. That counts as an ace to me. Heck, anybody on a MotoGP bike counts as an ace in my book.

I wouldn't underestimate him too much next season. I don't think he'll win it, but I think he'll give a strong first season showing on the RSV4.

I don't understand why more AMA SBK riders don't try to get to the world stage. I get bored watching the AMA races. Especially when the Suzuki's were always out front by a mile.

And incase you guys missed it...Spies is moving to Italy!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>“There's a lot to do this winter,” Spies admitted. “I'm going to Italy to look at properties to rent. I'll also spend a lot of time at Yamaha's racing shop to get to know everyone. I haven't even looked at the testing schedule yet, but I'm sure that's going to keep me busy as well.

“I'm also going to step up my training to even higher levels. That's what it's going to take to be able to come out here and be competitive in World Superbike.”
