his one optimal weather condition back more like it.

Strangely there have been enough optimal condition races in his premier class career for him to have 3 titles and to currently stand number 4 for premier class wins.

Dovi is a journeyman.

Well definitely didn't think Ducati could keep it up for this long, but the gap is large enough that there's no reason they should not win this race now.

This track is awful for bikes. Dull as .....

Good excuse for Stoner not wildcarding. Wouldn't have been right for him to wildcard even if he had a chance of winning when the permanent riders were capable of a 1-2 anyway.

Dani & Dovi the ultimate motogp fluffers.

Watching them is the ultimate contest to determine mediocrity. I'm pretty sure if they were 1-2 around a track, they would dead stop on the last lap at the last corner. Each telling the other to go ahead and take the win so they could stay in 2nd.

There is a reason they don't race in the winter. Our winter not yours. :p

Like two woman trying to decide on dinner.

Hahahaha. What cracks me up with Dovi is he didn't even make some kind of effort to get P1 back. A man content to be second if there ever were one.

Firstly props to Iannone for his well won gp , brave tyre choice and it paid off .
Dovi said his hard tyre didn't drive off the corners as well as his teammate and the way he couldn't get back on terms adds weight to that. Also Lorenzo beating Rossi shouldn't have happened on michelintino tyres should it? Good race all round though and happy to see a different winner.

Indeed.

I forgot Dovi folds when it counts.

I'll tell you what though Migs, at least I am willing to make the prediction before the race starts. Something I haven't seen you do. ;)

Dovi made the wrong choice of tires. He just didn't have the grip at the end. He was killing it on the brakes, but AI, intuited the right choice for tires. Said so himself.

You're clearly new to GP racing then if you think this is anything other than a typical Dovi performance.

That result was inevitable barring a crash or blowup on Ducati's part. The only thing undetermined was who was first and who was second. If you looked at the weekend as a whole and studied the session analysis, the Ducati's were playing with the field. Outside of qualifying, they were the only bikes the entire weekend that dipped into the 1.23's and they even went mid 1.23's while everyone else struggled to get in the low 124's. In the race, they managed the Yamaha's giving them false hope and would put 2-4 10ths on them anytime they wanted. They were able to conserve tires all the while pulling away from the Yamaha's at will. I would bet the Ducati strategy was to push just hard enough to put a comfy gap on the field, saving fuel and tires, then settling it in the last few laps with no danger from behind. They could have won by 10 seconds had they pushed. Anywho, congrats to the ......., hard ...., maniac, whatever he calls himself. Brilliant ride, i always like to see someone get their first win. Lorenzo looked to have located his balls and Marquez finished exactly where his bike allowed. He was 4th in FP4, qualified 5th and was 6th in warm up. Thats all he was ever going to get unless someone dnf'd. Damage control achieved for a rough weekend.

I have been known to travel to Europe and the USA, probably no more than 50 times, but not many fewer times than that either, and mostly during winter in Australia since they mostly don't have medical conferences in winter either except at ski resorts which I don't do.

Bottom line is that Lorenzo has both the most titles and the most race wins of any rider over the time he has been in the premier class, certainly more than one V. Rossi who has been there the whole time. He will doubtless be surpassed by Marquez, but it is what it is, and if his riding style is best suited by the conditions most commonly prevalent that is hardly a knock on him.

(EDIT I exaggerate. It is probably more like 35 times).

Hence no need for Stoner to wildcard.

Congrats to Maniac for holding it together. I did see a few times when Dovi tried to drive hard out of the corner the rear got very loose, so I think there is substance to him saying he didn't have the grip. Not degrading Jorge or his talent, but he was far enough behind the Ducati that he could get into his rhythm and run a perfect race, as Valentino seems to stay roughly the same distance behind him the whole time.

Awesome track imo and I am seriously considering skipping Austin next year, and making the trip to Österreich.
